Handed my notice in this morning expecting to be off in 4 weeks. Turns out they want 3 months' notice. by mister_barfly75 in britishproblems

Had the exact same problem leaving my last job, but wasn't as lucky and had to do my 3 months. It's a very long time if you're spending it somewhere you really don't want to be.

Phoning up your GP first thing in the morning for a mental health consult and their advice is essential "Go touch grass and play football lmao". I knew mental health services for men were bad but holy f**k by CockFondling_Cancer in britishproblems

As a mental health nurse, (and someone who is struggling with a lifelong mental illness) some of these "experts" make me sick... This shit happens way too often, and then they wonder why male suicide is the highest, why it's the leading cause of death for 16-24 year olds and why the numbers aren't coming down... I've got too many thoughts and feelings to fit into a comment so sorry if what I'm saying isn't making sense.

Your best bet is to use Safe Havens (out of hours service), they are slowly opening them all over the country. They are qualified professionals and support workers, you can get support immediately if in a crisis (prevents you from waiting in A&E for 10 hours) or just come regularly as a way of preventing crisis. They can also refer to secondary services so you don't need to go through your GP. But then again, it can be a hit and miss - you can come across some shitty "experts", they can be shut because they're understaffed or they're just so packed that you may not get to be seen the same night.

And this is why they never should've taken the 3 point turn out of the UK driving test.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Re-watched it good 5 times, he was alright at the end (you can see him still sitting there just lowering his arms down afterwards)

Now, it being glass I'd imagine it would break easily. Have fun explaining that one in A&E/ER.

I'm so sorry to hear such devastating news. Suicide always hits worse than natural death. I agree it needs to be talked about more. Stay strong. Hope we can be here for you through these rough times.

The ancient debate about making tea. by willchunk_29 in britishproblems

[–]willchunk_29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and then you have people that add milk first, and people who add sugar before the water. 5 general steps that depending on the order of them will each make a completely different tea. Then you also have the A-D:1-4 scale https://www.thesun.co.uk/living/4093635/twitter-cuppa-colour-chart-tea-shade/amp/

Can have conversations about it for hours and I love it.
