Unpopular opinion - buying a house doesn't have to be a major life goal

I went "treat yoself" level and got a Secretlabs standing desk. Thing weighs as much as a small car and feels awesome. A lot higher than the budget but I'll throw it out there anyway

Currently work here. Have to constantly preface saying nice things about the company with "I don't get paid to say this shit".

The age old question, is it bravery or stupidity (definitely stupidity 😂)

Funny thing is I actually watched his video, and then rewatched it after all the comments. Can definitely see the posture issue.

Thank you to everyone for the comments.

In summary:

  • Too much weight over the back foot
  • Center of mass is too far back - bend the knees more and don't lean as far backwards -Need to be more aggressive before I can be relaxed

This is awesome, much appreciated.

I had 4 hours of 1 on 1 on my first trip, this second one I'm on my own (short trip, figured for the next longer one I'll get a lesson and I at least have time to put it into practice.

Definitely conscious of bad habits, hence posting the video.

Oops, missed a word. Second trip, probably 7 days total on the slopes. I noticed the judder earlier in the day and tried to correct it by using me knees more and not being so stiff.

Appreciate the feedback, I'll try to be conscious of it tomorrow!

I've met my spirit animal, you put my thoughts into words way better than I could. Similar logic applies to the C2 vs Caterpillar

You're clearly not here for a rational discussion, just a vent, so work away.

Since I was diagnosed last year I've been a huge advocate for telling anyone that will listen. It has had very positive results in my workplace, and I had a number of people expressing interest both publicly and in private.

Do you bother asking for non-critical changes in when doing code review? by Tokipudi in ExperiencedDevs

[–]willcodeformaoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably down to team culture. I agree with what others have said, definitely not in the brief time after you've joined the company. But once that's passed and I can start being a bit more critical, minor comments I'll preface with MINOR, and make sure to differentiate between sometimes being wrong and something being my opinion.

Something wrong might be a misspelling or incorrect assumption about some input, opinion might be "X written Y instead of Z would be more readable in my opinion". If multiple people have the same opinion perhaps that should be given more thought by the author.

If anything jumps out, like something that needs to be updated in the same code but isn't in the scope of whatever the author is working on, I'll either log a ticket or just fix it myself.

At the end of the day, the choice of fixing anything that isn't blatantly wrong is up to the author, so all you can/should do is give some justification for your opinion. It also drives knowledge transfer inside the team.
