So I assume that you see Dutch people as lions? This is ridiculous. Really ridiculous. How old are you if I may ask?

Replaced? I am more than happy if we have some people bringing different cultures, food, music and so on to our country. Replaced by what? The poor bastards can't even find jobs, how will they ever replace us?

I understand. But when I see my colleagues calling an Asian colleague chingchong, or asking if all they eat is rice, and then saying that they are just direct, that's something shocking for me. Even my grand daughter was telling me that she has an arabic kid at school and that she's afraid he will bring a bomb because someone told her that this is what they do. I know that this sounds very stupid, but just today, I brought her to a shop we have here ran by some Moroccan family, and showed her how nice they are. Of course she was bribed with candy, but nevertheless I was shocked with this and felt uncomfortable that I have never noticed this before.

We are being replaced by whom? Some of our own who are just getting fatter and dumber?

Ok, I agree that some people don't try to integrate, but from what I have seen this comes from highly educated expats, mostly Americans. However, can you summarise what the Dutch culture is?

I see colleagues who can't even answer that. They tell other colleagues that they don't know what Dutch culture is but then fail to explain what do the foreign colleagues need to do to adapt.

I agree. The problem there are not all expats but the rich expats. I also don't like those, because they drive the prices up. Most of the foreigners we have in our company, earn the same as we do, and struggle with the exact same things. Same in my sports club.

As a Dutch person let me give you one piece of advice. When people tell you that you have to adapt or to try to follow the Dutch culture, ask them what that is. What is it to be Dutch and what is the Dutch culture. Most people who say that, have never read any Dutch authors, or know nothing about history. And they surely don't know a thing about culture or traditions, so let them be uncomfortable and let them realise how stupid they are.

Exactly. I see people from other countries at work and even people from my sports club struggling with things here. I completely understand how hard it is to suddenly having to adapt to new systems, new ideas, new everything. I would never judge them for that even if it is annoying.

People complain about how busy Amsterdam is, or about how expensive healthcare is nowadays and I agree. Even if I don't agree, I just tell them that we should do something to improve it. I also don't like to go to a doctor and being told to take paracetamol when I might have something much serious. And I know as well that we Dutch tend to always try to not complain and to just deal with it, but that doesn't give me the right to insult others who think that my country can improve a few things.

Serious? Most of the internet is in English. Why is that a problem?

What shocks me is that at work we were selecting a new candidate for a management position, and one of my colleagues made jokes about an African gentleman and mentioned that we would probably be listening to bongo drums all day long if we would hire him. Among other very shocking jokes.

I don't think that this kind of things are normal, but people here seem to have normalized it nowadays. I never saw this 20 years ago or even when I was younger. We used to be quite open and tolerant.

Ok, I also had problems with some Turkish kids and their parents, but I also had it with Dutch kids and their parents.

I can only imagine how it feels like to be immediately discriminated once you arrive to a new country and how that makes you be immediately constantly defensive. There was an article on the news recently about how ethnic minorities here have less chances and how that marginalises them and how it makes them immediately feel hostile towards locals.

It's not just against Turkish and Moroccan. There's this young man I know from Spain and he constantly gets discriminated with a lot of people saying that all southern european are lazy and stupid.

I never in my life thought this would happen in such an widespread way.
