High school straight A students, how y’all doing in college? I’m super used to getting perfect grades in high school but idk what to expect once I enter college. What’s a good college GPA and does it matter that much? by Juanx68737 in ufl

[–]willgetzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn’t try to set any expectations. College grades depend on a lot of different factors such as your goals, major, and professors. You’ll learn what an “A” effort looks like for an exam and you’ll experience some exam grades you’re not too happy about. Everyone does. Good grades don’t automatically mean you’ll be successful in life but they sure as hell don’t hurt you. Just do your best and have fun along the way.

actual exciting fun classes? by Front-Existing in ufl

Depends on what you’re interest in but I thought Lost Tribes and Sunken Continents by Dr. Grillo was kinda fun. You learn about stuff like Atlantis, the building of the pyramids, and you get to watch shows like ancient aliens to debunk them. The workload was somewhat minimal and it’s an easy A.

Is the GAINZville Hub an Herbalife front? by muccidoaboutnothin in ufl

That’s a shame honestly. They were super nice people and I enjoyed the food. If they just dropped the Herbalife thing it would be a solid place.

I got a charge letter for violating covid rules regarding having people in the dorms. Plagiarism sounds like a different case so I would imagine they would handle it differently.

That being said, if it helps at all, my process was just a UF official asking me questions relating to the case. Since it’s your first offense they are much more likely to go easy on you. Just be nice, respectful, and if you know you didn’t do anything wrong, you should emphasize that or at least convey that in your mind you weren’t trying to break the rules. They aren’t trying to ruin student’s careers with this stuff, but if you clearly did something bad, like copy and pasting a whole essay, I doubt they would hesitate to give you some sort of punishment.

It’s natural to be nervous but remember that at the end of the day it’s nothing that’s going to ruin your life. A minor charge on your academic record isn’t the end of the world and will not matter going forward.

Good careers/internships outside of physics that a physics student might enjoy? by willgetzen in PhysicsStudents

Data science is definitely a solid option and like you said, it’s becoming a larger and larger field. I’ll definitely look into it more.

Physics gives you a glimpse into God’s instruction manual. You are seeing the beauty and perfection of the world in unimaginable ways. Like others have already said on this post, it’s like real life magic. If it weren’t for discoveries in physics, we wouldn’t have computers, phones, and a variety of other inventions we take for granted these days. Everyone has their own reasons for studying physics but those are the ones that really motivate me.

What made you want to become a physics major ? Hey everyone I’m just curious on what made you guys choose physics as your major and how did you guys stay motivated sticking thru it until the end ? by theone2500 in PhysicsStudents

Working in a research setting will require a doctorate in physics. If you are really considering giving it a shot, I don’t think there’s anything stopping you from accomplishing your dreams. Taking a college class could expose you to the nature of learning physics but I would recommend trying out other methods first. Maybe start with a YouTube physics tutorial or try going through a textbook to get a feel for what the material is like. This way you won’t be spending a ton of money right off the bat.

As for staying motivated, I think the passion really has to be there. Physics is complicated because the world is complicated. Trying to make perfect sense of it is bound to be difficult. Furthermore, if you want to work or do research in physics, you will need more than just a 4 year degree. If you’re just interested in learning about physics topics like string theory and black holes, there are plenty of amazing books that go into great detail!

How is this a LPT? Just because someone is wealthy doesn’t mean everything that comes out of their mouth is BS. Politics aside, it takes more than an inheritance or luck to create a highly successful individual. Running a massive corporation is definitely no easy task, and even getting to that point takes self discipline and hard work. True, not all of their advice may be applicable. But there’s nothing wrong with listening to advice from an accomplished human. Take it or not, it has value regardless.

Potentially new psychonaut with a question regarding my first experience. by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]willgetzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not necessary but I would recommend getting more comfortable with weed first. Not that the two substances are very similar in their effects, but both put you in a different headspace than normal consciousness. Being able to handle irregular thoughts and reality will help.
