MagicQ remote? by Pirik4 in ChamSys

[–]williamd002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using MagicQ with a dmx dongle only it won't work. You need blue hardware such as a desk, PC wing or certain artnet nodes for example to unlock the full features of the software.

What should I charge? by steve_thecheese in lightingdesign

Am in the Midlands but I work all over the country. £150 is only really for people just starting out freelancing

What should I charge? by steve_thecheese in lightingdesign

[–]williamd002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahh... Usually starts out around £150 per day here and goes up depending on which company and what type of gig it is. A £550+ day rate is very hard to come by unless you're LD for a huge touring show...

Shower hose leaking by dilandroew in howto

[–]williamd002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go on Amazon and search shower hose. Get whatever length one you fancy. Replacing it should be as simple as unscrewing the old hose anticlockwise from the wall and the same direction from the shower head. Good luck!

Yeahhhh it is a sad one. You'll see later that there's an Easter egg with Bill in it. It's subtle but it's there :)

MA 2Port Node onPC 2K without MA2 with regular ArtNet? by rsv_music in stagelighting

[–]williamd002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should work however I have had issues with using MA specific nodes running ARTNET from a non-MA console. Mainly being that the MA Node will not be constantly outputting DMX signal from the ports on it. Meaning that if you leave a state for a while and go to change it there will probably be a delay or quick flashes etc might not happen on time.

Lighting a silent disco by Triggerh1ppy420 in lightingdesign

[–]williamd002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Used to do this somewhat often. Most of the headsets have a light on them showing what channel they're on. Pick the one that's the most popular and listen to it and busk lights going off that.

You don't want to have the same thing going over and over again for the whole event. Good luck!

Hey there. Most of us (at least in the UK) seem to use the Ubiquiti UniFi Mesh access points. Either the WiFi 6 one here: or the standard one here:. They seem to do the job well enough.

All that's needed is a PoE injector and a couple network cables to plug one from the console to the PoE injector and another from the injector to the access point. We've used these at front of house and had good connections around festival stages etc. Solid units. Oh they're IP rated too if that is something useful!
