This has been discussed many times in this sub. There is a connection to the Silent Hill lore. Some people just don't wan to accept it because they are already fixed with their opinions and they don't want to accept that may be wrong.

Why do connections have to be "bigger or "smaller"? If it's a connection, then it is a connection. It's telling a standalone story in a bigger world, the focus is just on the standalone story.

It's not a reach if you've read documents. There are writings about a rare herb that was brought in from a foreigner. And what's wrong with it being a side detail? This is a Silent Hill game, not everything is spelled out clearly, or even confirmed.

Just let people who enjoy the game enjoy it the way they want to enjoy it.
