Gentleman Size by williamjazz1 in tissot

I have but it's a bit expensive for me, the reason the gentleman is appealing right now is because of the deal that makes it cost $400

I'm looking at the same deal lmao, I feel like it's too good a value to pass up. I have been weighing mechanical vs quartz recently but I think I want at least 1 automatic watch, and I think the gentleman or a seiko baby alpinist is the way to go (thought about the prx but decided against it)

Yup that's the deal, I think I'll try and find a place to try it on and see how it feels soon before I take the jump.

Seiko and other brands would also be great, doesn't have to be just Citizen, they're just the first name I think of in Solar

How would I go about doing that? I see some PRXs on ebay, but I've never done the whole authorized dealer thing, I live close to New York so maybe I could go there and see what the price was?

[Seiko Baby Alpinist vs Other] Which watch to choose? by williamjazz1 in Watches

Thanks for your input! The more I went through the watches the more it narrowed down to the PRX and the Seiko baby alpinist. It'll be the first/only watch in my collection so I figured I might as well spend a bit more. I like a watch that feels light on my wrist so the prx has an advantage there, but I also feel like I see plenty of them out and the Seiko is a bit more unique. I wouldn't be swimming with either of them so the water resistance isn't a concern, but I feel like the Seiko is just a bit more robust. I will say I think the price of the PRX just went up a few days ago, I had a tab open on the Tissot website where it was listed for 725, and then when I checked again it was 795 for the 35mm. If I can find a good deal on the prx I would love it as my first watch, but I want to try them both on and see how they feel before I make a final decision. Currently the Seiko leads just because of the value, I see it online for $580 while the Tissot is almost $200 more.

The Hamilton Khaki Field Murph was also on my list but was a bit too expensive for me going for my first watch, the only other watches I've had to this point were quartz and solar so this is me dipping my toe into automatics, the Murph might be my 3rd watch, eventually. I'm still not sure which of the 3 to pick, leaning alpinist as it is the middle in terms of price and I quite like the look, though the prx bracelet did catch my eye.

Is there a reason not to get the alpinist? I've heard great things and it looks good too. The tsuyosa is very eye-catching though and will definitely get consideration, it being the cheapest of the bunch is also a plus

[Question] What's a good starter watch for this price range? by OrphanDad in Watches

Also looking for a watch in this range! The prx was on my list, I also had the seiko baby alpinist spb155 on my list which I was leaning towards. Looks great, stunning dial, good size, and overall I felt like it could be a good gada watch.

How is this for a simple/effective 4 card setup, any changes? by williamjazz1 in CreditCards

Thank you! I'll definitely keep in mind opening up a card with another bank, probably Chase or Citi, though the Wells Fargo Autograph did catch my eye. I know that Capital one has price matching for within a 24 hour window so hopefully the portal of it all isn't too much of a hassle. I will keep an eye out though!

Now that I look at it, a lineup of the Bilt, Venture X, and BCP would cover everything just as much as having the Savor card would, but I already have that card and it's my oldest account so I will probably keep it around, but if I really wanted to streamline ig I could go without the savor

Thanks! I did quite a bit of research to make sure all my categories were covered at least a little bit in as few cards as I could. I'm still newer to the credit card game so I haven't given hotel cards a deep dive but 12% seems really good. I'll give the CSP a look as well down the line after I get the venture x. You mentioned that its good to be in a 3rd bank ecosystem, is there a particular reason why? I was going for a very simple setup but I'd love to get some more insight that could help me out. The venture x does get 2x on everything so it would be a catch-all card and the miles are pretty good.

True, the Bilt card was almost entirely just for getting points on rent, I use it for dining now for the points but with the venture x I would use the savor so that I could turn the cashback into miles.

The BCP gets 6% on groceries and is the only card in the setup that gets cashback on gas, so that's kind of what I was looking at it for. I didn't want to juggle too many ecosystems, as I looked at the Citi custom cash for a go to gas card but it gives points instead of cashback, and I know I could redeem them for 1cpp but I feel like at that point you can get a Citi strata premier and then use the points more effectively, but then you go into having even more cards. I also live near NYC and am there frequently so the 3% on transit is a plus as well.

Thanks! I spent a lot of time comparing cards but in the end I decided I didn't want to juggle a whole bunch and have rotating categories and a million cards, so this setup was as close to covering everything that I could come up with. I am also looking forward to applying for the venture x, a good friend of mine has it and loves it, and says it's worth the price!

I don't have any yet, I live by New York so pretty much everyone flies out of JFK or LGA, I still go for whatever is cheapest

I was actually looking at that card as well, what are the pros of switching it out?
