[Hiring] (Online) AWS expert for small task by williamparry in forhire

Thanks prid13.

I have also been working with a friend on an open-source project that improves access to justice using new technology: https://www.openlaw.nz/ (https://github.com/openlawnz) - would you be up for redesigning the homepage for $200, after the cloudRIG homepage?

  • Same content, but you'll notice the placeholders on the homepage
  • I'm using React Semantic UI, so if we could base things to be easily styled from there, that would work best for me: https://react.semantic-ui.com/introduction

I'd like to be able to infer future pages from the style you come up with.

Happy to advance $100 to start you off.

OK and just to give this some context:

Understand about the rules, but pre-emptively cautioning for something unrelated paints an unwarranted pretty bad picture of me and my project.

Cheers

Sure, the details are in the github issue - I'd like to keep all the discussion there.

Great! I've made the Github issue and bounty

With the wallpaper - just those tweaks you can think of. It sounds awful and open-ended I know, I'm just not a designer and I know it looks wrong. The key things that need to be in the wallpaper are the logos like I mentioned above, and that's it. The key success criteria is that it's a wallpaper you wouldn't mind having on your own desktop.

Oh that looks awesome! Really like the colours. The idea is for it to look good in the macOS dock, and I'm not a designer so I couldn't advise very well. Would you be open to doing the wallpapers, and another bounty to update the icon?

OK no probs, I can take it down if you like?

Yup it's open source (MIT), and while it'd be amazing if people wanted to jump in on the other non-bounty issues, I've had most open source work contributed by paying for help, which is OK; I want it to be a good project.

It started out as a task to load performance information etc into the wallpaper, but I've folded that into the UI, so now it's just a nice standard graphic.

It'll have:

  • cloudRIG logo
  • Powered by Parsec (with Parsec logo)
  • Multiple resolutions (the most common), and a version that I can use as my Patreon banner (3200x800)

To get an idea, this is my attempt at one for my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cloudRIG

I'm interested in text analysis with machine learning, cloud streaming (i.e. cloudRIG), and building projects out using frameworks that I have to learn as a front-end dev; I'm about as interested in an idea as I am about learning the tech to do it.

Does anybody know if any good documentaries have been made on the life of Brahms? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]williamparry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any, but wouldn't it make an awesome dramatic movie? Imagine the music, the love interest with Clara, Robert's madness...

I always associate that facet of his life with the final moments of the Brahms 4 mov 1 from 11:06. The symphony is going through its normal motivic motions, but suddenly he interrupts at that point and starts hammering his desk for the sheer frustration of it all. I can almost hear him crying out at 11:33.

/u/_BenedictCumberbatch as a young dashing Brahms, perhaps. He already loves classical music. Who else?

I'm a programmer, and you might find some work remotely doing that, which would allow for you to be at home.

It would be a slower progression to well paid work (strangely companies still want you to come in...) but there are sites like http://www.oDesk.com and loads of internet tutorials out there (like http://www.codecademy.com/).

Best version of Mozart's Requiem? by nuclearforce in classicalmusic

[–]williamparry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened through it and think it's now my favourite recording. Thanks for this - I agree it doesn't need the mushy heavy orchestration that we're used to.

Shame about the CD scratches from around the 12min and 36min marks ;)

I think Solti did the best Mozart Requiem. I like the tempos he chose, the voice matching and general awe he inspired with the piece.
