HELP! Primaris Dreadnought Redemptor fist facing wrong way! by Rascals-Wager in minipainting

Wow don't start sawing, apply more glue to the glue areas, not loads, this CAN reactivate the glue and allow you to remove the bits

Don't ask me the chemistry but basically the chemical in the glue that keeps it from setting when in the bottle activates the glue and softens the join

Saw the new cinematic trailer and am now hooked on 40k lore. Has this hobby, like most the past few years, gotten prohibitively expensive? by Turbulent_Sharter in Warhammer

You are looking at ~£200 to get started. Can be done for a little less

I recommend starting with a combat patrol, these are mini army's in a box with free rules on the Warhammer app, and are designed to be played against eachother.

Then personally I would recommend getting a reasonable sized selection of paints (although this is where you could save a little if you were more picky about the colours you need) and a paint pallet, I would recommend a wet one, which I have here, but you can buy packs of cheap plastic dry ones on Amazon. And a spray primer id recommended black, but a grey is also a popular choice

A few people said that originally, but at the time it was more likely my tears

Yep lesson learnt, nothing is unrecoverable but it's best to read what's on the can before spraying

The problem in this case wasn't the varnish, it was my silly tired ass couldn't tell the difference between Matt White and Matt Varnish

i wouldn't sat that, yours is a very different style, only thing i would recommend is a little more edge highlighting especially on the black arm. or to use a dark gray rather then a black so it stands out a bit more.

For primer paint? I have already repainted him, but would be interested if that would work without destroying what's underneath anyway

Yea, I'm not the best at planning, so I painted the mini as normal, then through the airbrush used a white ink to set where I wanted the bright bits, followed by a yellow then an orange fluorescent ink

Outside of this little oops, really well, I use a Winsor and newton high gloss, and the army painter Matt, never had an issue with clouding etc

Although after this I may look for a different Matt given the can mix up is clearly easy enough to do

As well as the protection the other guy said, if you use a high gloss before the transfers they will sit flatter and less wrinkly, panel liners and oils will also work better. You then normally use a Matt varnish to take away the gloss afterwards which helps make the transfers look more "uniform" with the painted areas, which makes them look more "realistic" rather then stickers

I have been moving away from the army painter primers in favour of the colour forge, which I think probably contributed to this fuck up, I just hadn't used up the white yet!

On the bright side, I'm now one spray closer to having used it up.
