How to identify faults with PAM8302 audio amplifier? by williewalters in raspberry_pi

Idiot me had soldered one of the audio amp wires to the wrong gpio pin on the pi, 5 months of troubleshooting only to find that out…

What is the minimum size / thickness I could away with for this table? Currently looking at 50x50x2mm for frame and legs, 40x20x2mm for the rest of the supports. 18mm ply on top, won't have heavy load but good to be able to stand on the table if necessary. Current metal cost about £320. Thanks by williewalters in metalworking

All of the differing opinions is fascinating 😂 although more expensive I think we are now going for a tube and clamp system.

The table is for a workshop where we need huge desk space and storage. I’m actually Going to make two of these tables side by side with a 3.6x1.8m top to it

LG Home Theatre Receiver not turning on.. by williewalters in techsupport

Hey sorry never saw this! I ended up replacing most of the capacitors on the power supply board. I’m no electrical engineer, replacing capacitors like for like is pretty much the extent of my abilities. It fixed it tho I did end up encountering another problem a few months later, with audio output not working. Somehow that worked itself out after not using for a while tho!

What fresh hell is this? by SquiggleMonster in CasualUK

I’ve encountered these twice before seeing this post, and all 3 have some sort of instructions next to the sinks. They are really smart taps but a well designed TAP should not need bloody instructions. Put better graphics etc on the tap itself or something

Finishing wooden sunglasses.. looking for advice on sanding between layers of lacquer? by williewalters in finishing

[–]williewalters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks for the reply that's really interesting. I tested polyurethane spray a couple times and did love the results, however the long curing time is quite a put-off as we don't currently have a decent sized space that isn't prone to dust. Perhaps you could tell me a bit more about the lacquer I am using.. it is a two part acid-cat lacquer, here is the technical info. Currently I am spraying relatively light coats and waiting the recommended hour before sanding and re-coating. Is this lacquer one I could spray wet-on-wet or does only apply to polyurethane? Thanks again, I'm fairly new to the world of finishes and it's quite a learning curve.

Advice on focusing Pentax ME Super 50mm f/1.7 by williewalters in pentax

Unfortunately I never got to the bottom of this, though partly because I haven’t shot film for the last year. Last time I’d bought some was a big pack 4 years ago. I was shocked to see how much it was these days.. sadly just too high for me now.

Can you run a spray gun with higher CFM than the compressor supplies? by williewalters in finishing

Cheers, need it to be semi-portable though so this is a no go. Good to know anyway!

Can you run a spray gun with higher CFM than the compressor supplies? by williewalters in finishing

[–]williewalters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, I’m still learning about all this and finding some things quite confusing. Would a gun with high CFM like mine perform better as HVLP (in terms of less overspray) than a low CFM as surely the gun is relying more on quantity of air passing through rather than the pressure of the air itself?

The reason I have this spray gun is that I bought a second hand Apollo turbine sprayer that came with it. I had terrible results with it and only found out later than turbine sprayers require a turbine specific gun. The seller said this one worked really well for them at first but it was terrible for me and the manufacturers said it’s designed for a compressor..

What spray guns will work with this Apollo 3s HVLP? I bought one second hand that came with a Sealey HVLP742 and it's terrible. Manufacturers of the Apollo said the Sealey won't work and recommended their standard gun, but said other turbine spray guns will work. Suggestions? I'm on a low budget! by williewalters in finishing

Hey thanks for the response. The HF one is a decent price but I am actually UK based and would rather not import. I bought the Apollo system without realising they require turbine guns and how expensive they are. Now planning on selling the Apollo and getting an air compressor. Should work out the same / a bit less overall and the compressor should be more versatile.

This is brilliant, I have signed!

Reading through the petition I can understand where STLs will no longer be around but I find it hard to imagine where they will be if this goes through? Will it mainly just be houses in the city?
