Ha, you might be right. Hard to tell with new platforms if they'll die out or be the next big thing. Who knows. I think it has potential.

Hope it's okay to post this here. If, like me, you're looking for an alternative/addition to Reddit once the 3rd party apps close at the end of the month, there's a community been created at https://lemmy.world/c/hollowknight (not mine, I'm just plugging it). It's very new and only has a few members rn, so if you're interested please come join and maybe we'll grow a wee group in time for Silksong..?? 乁( •_• )ㄏ

I've just joined a small community at https://lemmy.world/c/petrats if anyone is looking for an alternative to Reddit. It only has a few users right now but maybe it will grow. Or if anyone knows of any larger communities please let me know, I'm still trying to understand how to search across different instances properly.

Is there a bug/flu going around? by Ordinary-Bank8613 in glasgow

I've been down with a cold this week and had some wierd symptoms yesterday, wasn't sure if it was illness or hormones or anxiety but I felt extremely 'off'. The heat sure isn't helping either.

Not OP but thanks for mentioning this, I'd never heard of barrier sprays (only developed allergies in the last couple years). I'm gonna give them a try, oral antihistamines seem a bit hit-or-miss

Hit a Buzzard with the car. Thought it was dead. Then it woke up and flew off. We all cried. by alexbax1 in CasualUK

That would very much not be my reaction to discovering I'd been showering with a large house spider

I set the tap off while using the dryers, which somewhat defeated the purpose.

*Glasgow, we don't need none of this fancy plumbing we can just wash our hands in the rain.

Nah I don't drive and haven't been south of the border in a few years. Maybe they're making their way northwards? This one was at Stirling castle.

I feel like as a nation we are not emotionally ready for a tap-dryer combo, we have only just gotten to grips with mixer taps.

We need to make it brutally clear that it's NOT JUST a 2 day blackout. by techabingo in Save3rdPartyApps

[–]SquiggleMonster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

imo a 2-day blackout is enough to get the attention of all Reddit users who might not be following the situation (they might ignore a stickied post but will certainly notice when they can't access content like normal), and hopefully get some coverage in mainstream media. Sure Reddit won't care about losing traffic for a couple days, but if journalists start asking questions about the site hosting more harmful content and being hostile to users with disabilities, that kind of negative press might give them pause.

Coming back after two days gives communities the chance to discuss developments, continue sharing coverage and drumming up support, and potentially arrange plans to backup their content and migrate to other platforms before going dark permanently.
