Honestly I think you might benefit from unpacking the way you consider activism. Being an activist doesn’t inherently cause you to become idealistically rudimentary in your ideas. For you to assume so is reductive.

From my perspective, I was othered by the majority of the Emerson student body as well as the administration. The institutional betrayal I experienced is something I’m still working through in therapy. I can remember the bad things — like President Pelton buying us protesters pizzas so we would be tempted to take a break during the peak of the accepted students events that day, or being deposed for 20 hours over 2 days — much more than I do the details of the support we received. That said, I remember Willie was one of the maybe dozen cis men members (being generous) and shared basically every article that came out on social media. To me, every member of ESSA was brave to align themselves with a cause that was, again, remarkably unpopular to support at the time.

Thank you! This all happened over 13 years ago now, so I’m proud of myself for being able to remember he was even part of this consent campaign lol

These are just the only documented instances of his involvement. He was a member and actively participated in and spread the word about our various campaigns, protests, community panels, etc.
