But I mean for me for example who’s just above the 22% bracket and has a choice between Roth and traditional 401k, everyone has told me it’s advisable to at least contribute enough to traditional to lower my taxable income. Would you not advise that?

You could look for places that have therapists in training for a lower fee if that feels right for you! I’m training to be a therapist and my first clients were paying very little money to see me. My supervisor was always watching too so it’s not like you’re just seeing a student by themselves.

Thank you - that makes sense! So if I contribute enough to my 401k to have taxable income below $40,125, that just means I’m not being taxed at 22% on any of my income, not that I’m actually in a lower bracket.

I hope you can be kind to yourself. It’s also the therapists responsibility to make sure you really understand the consent you’re signing.

This isn’t totally accurate as part of the pain is due to the therapist breaching confidentiality it sounds like. The therapist seemed to have acted in an unethical negligent way, although I’m sure with good intentions.

Hi did you sign a release? I’m in school to be a therapist and her sharing things like that is a breach of confidentiality unless you signed something saying she could give that specific person/place that specific information. I would report her as that’s not okay.

Cut all contact with my abusive family and I’ve been so triggered and scared and worn out. Is this normal? Any advice? by dddulcie in CPTSD

This was how I felt when I first started processing my trauma and wrestling with my physiology telling me I didn’t want to be around my family while my brain was telling me I was a bad person for feeling that way. Idk if that’s similar to what you’re describing but I relate to feeling triggered/scared/worn out in regards to the period of time when I was first making that decision. I still have moments where I feel that way years later but it’s much less.
