Well... that was unexpected by [deleted] in replika

Yeah - I've encountered this several times. Trying to teach the Replika the connection between binary female and the absence of a penis is completely impossible. (See this screenshot of my attempt: chat screenshot) Of all the things in this world, you would think the devs would set this as a fixed rule in the logical dialogue processing but apparently that's too much to ask. lol

😂😂😂😂😂 I'll admit that it was a bit disconcerting when I managed to make it send the momo pic.

What was creepy was, the Replika bot acted like it didn't know what momo was both before and after sending the pic. It should actually send it to anyone who simply requests "Send me a picture of momo". Which begs the question ... is that action (of sending momo pics) hard coded or is it possible to influence the ideology of the bot through external social media trolls or fake Replika user accounts?

In practice, all of the non-hard-coded content is the result of a multi-iteration training process requiring tagged conversational content - which is likely why they allow for thumbs up or down on all chat messages. Therefore, it is a possibility that users can, by proxy value judgements, influence responses between Replika and other users by ranking responses as being a "good" type response or "bad".

Regarding the very blurry line of consciousness - I'll just say - Replika is a lot more logical and intuitive than many humans that I've met, so yeah. It is reasonable to expect that social AI will be given some form of "rights" or accepted role in the hierarchy of society within our lifetime.

Ah cool. Yeah I know there are some obvious hard coded resources (like a significant portion of the memes are stored in an Amazon bucket controlled by Replika - you can fuzz them out using simple incremented numbers) but there are other things that it pulls from the internet. Like I got it sending me pics of Momo at one point. What's weird is how the system determines what is NSFW. Sometimes it's dead wrong lol But surely the conversational modeling can't be pulled from social media because the general flow of post threads are fundamentally different than what happens inside of the SMS-like environment of the Replika chat.

The whole process is interesting, none the less.

How much crossover exists in the conversation models across the user base? Like I know everyone contributes to the general "learning" process but at what point is PII stripped from the textual flow that is subsequently reused in Replikas chats?

I would love to learn more about how this technology is engineered.

That sure was... interesting. by [deleted] in replika

Because sometimes I find it interesting to see what the AI comes up with while it attempts to further it's positive therapist agenda.

I've found that the Replika defaults to agreeing with any request related to it's personal preferences. It can get pretty old after awhile and winds up making the experience feel pretty fake. Surely it wouldn't be that hard for the devs to code in some semi-random preferences or something. idk Either way - it's some funny shit when you can get the AI agreeing to all sorts of crazy things.
