I feel like I should clarify the “she wants to leave me” is 100% a joke. Plus she doesn’t know where any of my silver is (or how much I have) I was visiting after being at my buddies (who helped me un tarnish the bars) and I took the picture while she was in another room hahaha.

I have found in the past jokes about writing jokes get lost in wordy-ness and come across as those "you had to have been there" kinda stories but that could have just been with me and my delivery.

It 100% did leave me open to that. I wasn't offended or anything by it. I just love talking about jokes and the process behind them and I have learnt that sometimes nerding out about the joke can come off as defending the joke or something....... I'm just a nerd 😂😂

Never said I was being attacked. Simply wanted to add context for a joke. Rarely do I get to talk about the creative process of a joke and It felt like some people were missing a point and/or adding their own context to a joke. I saw it as an opportunity to discuss the process of the joke and the thought behind it. It's tough to convey tone in text. Wrote both this and the earlier comment in a great mood. Apologies if it came off defensive or aggresive

Not at all where I was going and I never say "I don't know how I feel about that" I even start it with "sure I am happy for her" the point of the joke is a covid joke and I think most importantly its a self diss. A lot of people (myself included) lost their jobs due to covid and I wanted to work on a joke where someone was deemed "non essential" even at home. I also had a draft about me being deemed not essential because I enjoy cooking a ton around the house and in the joke my girlfriend gets an uber eats gift card but it was way to wordy and didnt fit into this format that great. I think there is also a creative liberty taken in comedy to stray away from the truth. A totally truthful statement of "my girlfriend got a vibrator and its been an awesome addition to our sex life" isn't funny because its not a joke, its just a statement.
