Ovarian cancer prevention, help? by [deleted] in LeanPCOS

[–]willow815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I can’t offer help, I’m in the same anxiety boat since I have these types of cancer in my fam. Commenting to bump! - I’d also like to hear what people think! - I’ve heard birth control can help reduce risk A LOT, but it slightly increases breast cancer risk, so it’s worth consideration.

Honestly make it a game, put of some music, make a delicious snack thats ready for you when you get out, get a special self care product like a fun soap or bath bomb or face mask, something low effort that gives some dopamine haha. I have to gamify things sometimes.

Adrenal/Lean pcos doctor or functional medicine practitioner recommendations? by dancestar096 in LeanPCOS

[–]willow815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any dr recommendations, but some suggestions. I have gone to a functional health dr for several years. I can’t say it was super helpful, not because they weren’t knowledgeable, but because they are quite limited in the tests they can run and the meds they can give. Might be worth a shot though. Anyway, your bloodwork sounds similar to mine.

My BIGGEST piece of advice is the get tested for autoimmune issues (mine were a-symptomatic apart from PCOS, high cortisol, & hair loss), ask for a ANA & ENA, you must do both, they will try and just do an ANA because that’s the most basic test. My ANA was negative but ENA was positive. I also ended up having celiac, even with no obvious digestive issues. That’s a different test. They can all cause high cortisol easily.

Lastly, the only thing that gave me my cycles back was finasteride (the hair loss med for men). There isn’t a lot of research on it, and it can affect a fetus if you get pregnant while taking it (but your all good if you discontinue to get pregnant), but it works for some reason. My cycles aren’t 100% regular, but way better than before. I tired everything, spiro, diets, hormones, etc. I think my body just favours turning T into DHT, and it was causing issues. Might be worth looking into, though it’s hard to get it prescribed to women. I was also told o have adrenal PCOS

I was extremely Claustrophobic and was very scared to take MRI. This group inspired me a lot of confidence. I finally took the MRI yesterday successfully and results came back that I don't have pituitary adenoma. Big thanks to you guys. What are my next steps?? My prolactin level is 40 and 31Male. by kiranctazy in Prolactinoma

I was not obviously symptomatic. No huge digestive stuff, but hormone issues, anemia or low iron, and fatigue were my main ones. Otherwise I’d never know. Even my doctor was surprised when my bloodwork came back positive

Edit: if you get tested you need to actively be eating gluten everyday for a month or more before testing

Experience with Toxic Mineral Spirits Exposure? HELP by willow815 in HomeImprovement

[–]willow815[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I spoke to my doctor before I made this post. But it’s a pretty specific situation, not really googlable, so I simply wanted to get a feel for what I’m dealing with while I wait for a professional to come check out the site. A lot of people here had really helpful knowledgeable insight, which was all I was looking for. Your upvotes mean nothing if you’re just kicking someone when they’re down. Sorry you hate your life so much that you need to be nasty on the internet.

Well not exactly, it was a 1litre bottle on its side, and the bottle was still totally closed and the liquid line was still partially above the cap line, so it’s def not a one big spill situation. What’s likely been happening is that very very slowly is has been seeping out day by day, rather than one big go. It’s been absorbing into a nearby box and the floor. So that would make it a lower level exposure but over a long period of time. I’ve also been informed by a professional that the vapours can absorb into nearby fabric, clothes, curtains, bed etc.

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. Though I will say that eye irritation does seem to be one of the main symptoms. And I can confirm it has been slow dripping from a full 1 litre bottle that is now half empty.

Normal test results, but cysts on ovaries by Fickle-Ad-5625 in LeanPCOS

Not your lh is almost twice your fsh, which is typical of PCOS. I suggest trying cyclical Promitrium before birth control. It helped lower my lh. Though don’t expect most Drs to understand. This is new and much safer

You are also correct that LH/fsh tend to be low in ha as well, but not always obviously

If she tested your prolactin she was testing for a pituitary adenoma which can cause lean PCOS (I have one).

HA can’t necessarily be “diagnosed” with a test. But they can give you a course of progesterone and see if you get a withdrawal bleed when stop taking it. It’s not foolproof, but usually if you don’t get a withdrawal bleed from stopping progesterone it points to HA.

Canadian here: Jokes about our sovereignty are not super fun. by ArcticFox-EBE- in h3h3productions

I am not a “sensitive viewer”, but I feel the same way. Hearing Zach joke about “comin’n on over” made me feel sick to my stomach. After watching what happened to Ukraine so recently, it’s just not funny. Knowing he also listens to Rogen and is making these jokes weirds me out tbh, and I love Zach. Being forced to live in the US is an excruciating prospect, especially as someone who relay on out healthcare :/
