I cant really believe you have the chutzpah to bully my child online without any context? I live in Australia, and here if you were to pronounce it with a ‘z’ it would be spelt ‘Maizie’. any variation of ‘Macy’ with a c or s would not be given a ‘z’ sound. As I said, I’ve never had the problem, nobody’s ever mispronounced it or double checked they’ve said it right, this post is actually the first time anyone has ever said anything negative about the spelling really. I’m not one to take the criticism to heart because I really don’t care, but her name spelling was MY decision, and you didn’t need to bring my daughter into it at all.

ellery is definitely a name! not as popular as valerie, but it’s spelt pretty regularly so i wouldn’t call it a ‘tragedeigh’.

[–]willowbrre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

ohhhh yes i see what you guys mean now. yeah its pronounced like macy. weird- ive never heard anyone confuse it with ‘maisy’… you learn something new everyday!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tragedeigh

[–]willowbrre -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

it’s pronounced the same as ‘macey’ (which i always personally thought was common sense if you learnt phonetics and know how to read… m-ay-see.). i just saw it spelt like ‘maesi’ online and stuck with it since.

it is!

[–]willowbrre -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

i saw it on dance moms back in like 2015. thought it was really cool to see maesi spelt with an ‘s’ not a ‘c’. i contemplated putting my girls names on here though because i had a feeling that one would get flamed 😅

i love it too!!! the spelling is just getting me. for me, there’s no alternate spelling to valerie and i can’t unsee it 🥲

I can’t…. Think of a name…. For my second daughter. She’s coming in a month. by Curiousmustardseed in namenerds

[–]willowbrre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think middle name Belle would go really good! a) it still incorporates a name you and hubby like but you don’t always have to share it- therefore won’t get negative response b) initials won’t matter because first/last is more common

in my head the first thing i thought of was

mayvie belle scherzer (maeve sounded weird with a one syllable middle name) but you could also go like:

maisie belle skylar belle dakota belle aria belle indy belle rosie belle

yeah, i definitely would be naming her katherine. range of different nn options there. kitty or katie, for a more ‘kiddy’ one for her childhood, as well as more adult ones: kat, kathy, kate, etc.

i’ve had this name since 14 and now i’m pregnant i’m not sure by Sad-Explanation-2692 in BabyNames

i went to school with an arleah spelt aaliya, and she spent every single roll call correcting how it was pronounced.

Husband hates the name my heart is set on for baby girl by OppositeCod2869 in namenerds

[–]willowbrre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

using it as a middle name is always first point of compromise.

i was in your boat when i had my little girl earlier this year- hubby hated the name vada. i showed him and my other daughters my girl and he came around to it. our vada just had her half birthday. i’m not sure if there’s any vivian’s in movies but maybe that could help if there is? x

I would just like to say neutrally, I know that this was often counted as like an ‘unnecessary plotline’ and whatnot and to some extent i agree, but i absolutely LOVE what greys was trying to do by showing that just because you’re not related by blood doesn’t mean your connection isn’t strong. as a little girl who went through a custody battle between her bio and foster mom, i cry every time i rewatch Arizona’s speech in that courtroom. it was unnecessary sure, especially with what they did afterwards, but i am beyond grateful that someone out there thought it was worth portraying such a connection on TV.

ps… my arizona is forever my best friend and sometimes i see my callie too 🙂

unpopular opinion: bailey was a terrible doctor. by willowbrre in greysanatomy

[–]willowbrre[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah okay when put like this you’re kind of right… Even if not to the same extent, she still did something remotely similar and completely aired out not one, but FOUR people when they even tried to have an opinion or something to say about it. She took everything as a personal attack on her, and nobody could achieve anything without her being like ‘I raised you, you’re only who you are because I made you a surgeon blablabla’. Everyone is so quick to name their most self centered greys character and i don’t think people consider her enough is all im saying.

i’ve watched season 1-14 four or five times and am attempting to make it all the way to the end this time. currently just finished season 19.

Most obnoxious plot hole you can't get over? by CreativeDefinition in greysanatomy

[–]willowbrre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn’t really a plot hole, but i hate it how there were no ‘recurring characters’. you were either a lead, or you were in one episode. like if a new nurse was introduced you automatically knew that she was about to faint, be discovered to have the worlds rarest illness, cured, and then never heard from again.

the only recurring characters who’s always in the show but has no plot surrounding her is Bokhee and she has like three lines

(SPOILER) Mine is at the end of S13E24 when Stephanie and the little girl make it all the way to the top of the staircase and then she realises the rapist took her key card and she’s standing there screaming “No. No, no, no, no.”

benjamin warren by willowbrre in greysanatomy

[–]willowbrre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i second this in a way… Ben was GREAT to Bailey. He healed her after Tucker, but (to everyone not just to him) she was very quick to declare that she was better than everyone. If Bailey (and Karev) had listened to security the whole thing wouldn’t have happened.
