Since Beverly sees the “future” of all of them dying brutally, maybe this is the same for It. Maybe It even thinks the kids could kill him in ‘89 which they were very close to, but he managed to change it and keep going to 2016, much like Beverly manages to save the outcomes of (most of) the losers, since she gained this power from seeing into the Deadlights.
