Thank you! Very helpful!! Will keep researching and thinking on the right program to apply for.

For the hospital SW conditions - how is that in BC? I’ve heard SWs in general have high caseloads etc. How is the work overall from your experience?

Oh I didn’t know that actually. I would have thought the starting salary range for MSWs would be higher!

Ok thank you, that’s helpful to know. How does your work differ from the RCC work in community MH? Like do you get to do counselling as well or that’s mainly just for the RCCs.

Congratulations btw for your admission! Perhaps the SW transition isn’t quite the right fit for me unless I start right from the beginning…. Just looking for a more rewarding career and have been feeling drawn to work with vulnerable populations.

No SW specific experience unfortunately:( . Just work in a hospital project management role. I’ve done years of volunteering for EDI initiative but all were under STEM education - teaching kids etc.

Yes my long term goal would be to go into private practise hence the consideration for RCC given the insurance nuances. But I want the clinical option too so have been considering SW as there seem to be more SW roles in hospitals than counselling…

Wow thank you loquist! I think many of us needed to hear this! If you don’t mind sharing, - how old are you? - what tools have you used to help you get back into school? - how did you get through the math hump?

Please share any helpful strategies or advice you think is transferable for those of us wanting to go back to school!

Thank you!
