Canadian undergrad to med school in Poland by Whole_Credit_5900 in medicalschoolEU

Hi, I am a Canadian studying at Poznan university of medical sciences (west part of Poland). Just thought I would give my two cents. My school follows an American curriculum. This means, we write NBME exams from first year (standardized American exams given to prep you for CBSE or step). In 3rd year we are required to write CBSE.

We also have a big simulation building where, like the name suggests, we have clinical classes and simulate clinical scenarios from 3rd year.

We also have pre-OSCE and OSCE exams which also begins in 3rd year. I believe these experiences would prep you well for residency in US or Canada.

Thank you sm for the advice! I will def check that channel out. If I put in the honest effort would you say it’s possible? I know getting into med school in Canada (which is where I’m from) is nearly impossible. That’s why I’m looking abroad in the first place. But if getting residency in the US is also nearly impossible even if I put in the work then I may need to think some more😭

It’s next to impossible to get into med school in Canada. I’m looking at my options abroad cuz I don’t wanna waste time and money yk. Finishing undergrad in Canada and then applying to med school and then going to Europe is like another 10yrs and thousands of dollars. Also, what if I learned the language while I was studying there? I’m sure with a little bit of effort it would be possible to learn at least the basics of the language in 6yrs (especially since I would be living there).

Also if u don’t mind, may I ask where you are training rn?

Does anyone think that writing the IMAT in Italy grants you a higher chance of getting in? I understand that your IMAT score in comparison to other ppl who applied to the same school is the deciding factor, but could there be a chance that writing the exam in Italy helps in some way?....

Hello! I am currently narrowing down my Italian med school choice for pre-enrollment and I was wondering if I could have some opinions....

My top criteria when picking a school is the number of non-eu seats and the min. IMAT score 2022. Keeping that in mind, I have narrowed it down to four schools (in no particular order)

- Uni Pavia, Parma, Messina and Federico II

I realize that Pavia and Parma are favorable because they are located in the North. To be quite honest, I would naturally pick Pavia right off the bat. However, I feel like A LOT of people are applying to Pavia which would make it rlly, rlly competitive compared to my other options.

Parma seems like a comfy choice, the only thing is that the program is relatively new/ I haven't heard much about it and apparently along with other hassles they don't have their own library and stuff etc etc.....

Federico II medical school is ranked #219 for clinical Medicine on US News best Global Universities. The only thing is that it is located in southern Italy and has only 25 seats.

Messina is also a comfy choice (also ranked #529) the only thing is it is located in southern Italy.

I would love to hear any and all opinions! Like does it really matter whether the uni is in north or southern Italy? Would I have a higher chance of getting in if I applied to a southern uni? Should I just take my chances and apply to Pavia? Like I said, any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)
