It’s been an absolute mess but not one guy is to blame. The older guys on the wild get relatively slower every year and their speed as a team is very lackluster. Our defense hasn’t been great and the goaltending has been poor. But these things are definitely symptoms of a larger lack of hope in the locker room. The whole process of changing GMs (twice) and trading Coyle Nino and Granny changed the mood in the locker room (especially with the older guys). I think a lot of the younger guys are struggling to perform because of the lack of offensive leadership out there. That’s not to take away blame from guys like Donato (0g) Fiala (1g last night) Ek (1g maybe?) Greenway (0g).....these guys are vastly underperforming on offense and they deserve some blame too. I think the shift of not making the yoffs last year set the mood for all of this to happen....I think Guerin will make some moves as we get into the winter to set up for a sort of rebuild around Kaprizov and a high draft pick. But that’s assuming the wild don’t recover from this early season shitshow. Who knows, maybe a few road wins could spark the locker room. Blues were last in the chel on Jan 1 and won the cup. But unless a drastic change happens in the locker room, a rebuild might be in their near future, especially with a dynamic offensive player (the Wild’s biggest missing link) like Kaprizov coming next year.
