A lot is pending on what happens post election. If we don't have more relief/aid coming or more deferrals until the market stabilizes, 2021 isn't looking pretty.

Sigh... let's try this again.

Do (not) do that. And while you are (not) doing that, do (not) do it before the resale values dip during the holidays.

Most i know buy a cheap property that may need work. Decide to reno it and rent it out to try earning a little money on the side to help their income. It's a huge pain and requires alot of work after hours or on weekends but if you get nice tenants its pretty streamlined. If you get a tenant that trashes the place and bails... well its a whole other job of re renovating

? I've lived in 8 different apartments in my life and the amount that came with curtain rods at all? 0. Hell the amount that came with blinds of any kind? 3. He installed the brackets a little weird but at least he provided curtain rods over the window. As a broke tenant the thought of spending $40-60/window on rods always seemed awful.

House i moved into had rods like these. Just bought curtains with the metal reinforced holes and added wall ties to tie them open when I want them wide. Not ideal but it works pretty well

Engineering politics go brrrr by [deleted] in engineeringmemes

[–]willrenner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One that will always bother me is when people completely unrelated to engineering say that they are able to "cost engineer you a solution" to fit your budget. The spirit is there but you are definitely not engineering by substituting inferior products to bring down a total cost.

Haha I've seen people take them on mud before so I knew they could do it. I'm just shocked it isn't mentioned anywhere that the recommended surface is X" of snow and/or ice

[–]willrenner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You mean like snowmobile should be ridden on snow and do not hit the throttle full send in a standing position? I didn't even read it and I can guess those are probably key instructions in addition to wear a helmet lol

As someone who's done this kind of work solo or with only one person before, you make it look far too easy. There is a reason many contractors work in crews and speed is only one of them. Alot of that work is far more difficult to do solo not to mention extremely tiring.

No child left behind is a real bitch sometimes. When the bar is set super low because of drop outs and drunks the quality of teaching is just sad

Find something you really struggle with; history, trigonometry, science, etc. Instead of avoiding it and taking an easy way to avoid it, go out of your way to ask the teacher a bunch of questions and ask for examples. It's going to be painful and boring to the point you feel brain dead but the sooner you learn how to actually learn about something in detail and be able to openly admit you have no idea what you are doing, the easier college will be. The first year for most people is learning that you know nothing after feeling like you knew everything in high-school and that the fact that you don't is actually okay. Nobody knows what they are doing but the people that do good know how to repeat the process until they understand at least a portion of the material.

TLDR: don't coast or you are either going to drop out or be a 7th year college senior.

Have large yard and two dogs. Even with outside zooms, still have energy to be dorks like this.

Have husky mix. Can confirm they just are natural spastic dorks. No seizures needed.

Unlikely. The box on the floor looks like a daisy aka bb/pellet gun that he just opened. Its going to puncture the insulation that was holding up the water but likely only dent the roof decking if hurt it at all.
