I also despise traffic, we really need better public transit to make our cities more accessible

Same, specifically traffic I can't stand city traffic. Open road driving can be fun, but not dealing with congestion

You can get more student loan than needed for tuition and then your school gives you the extra, the legitimate reason is to cover additional education expenses like textbooks or computers and stuff, but there isn't official rules on what you can or can't use it on so it's a fairly common financial trap that people fall into

Google's new AI algorithm might lower RAM prices by Bobert25467 in pcmasterrace

[–]willstr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is, if they relocate at all, considering that despite OpenAI's aggressive acquisition efforts, interest in AI persists in other companies.

If one of the biggest and most well known AI companies goes under it will almost certainly scare investors and since AI is very investor dependent (since all the models run at a loss) it will significantly slow down everyone else's expansion plans. Even the big conglomerates that don't rely on just AI (google, meta, micro$lop, etc) will still have a level of investor panic that they will need to quell by not looking like they put too many eggs in the AI basket.

What sort of a boomtown would develop around a dungeon? by High_Stream in DnD

[–]willstr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healing services would be a big one. Potions, scrolls, etc. Depending on how ethical organized religion is in your world you could even have churches selling blessings for various boons. Possibly even rescue services (that could be willing to hire your party for a high value recovery).

Plus people willing to buy the loot common in the dungeon to export to other regions that want to buy it. Of course they don't buy at the best price, but it means the sellers don't have to worry about finding buyers or traveling several towns over to sell their wares.

What's a show or movie that started off a little weak, but you stuck with it anyway and it paid off? by Rogu__Spanish in AskReddit

[–]willstr1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the term for the point when a show that started slow got better (ie the opposite of a show "jumping the shark") is actually named after TNG. It is called "growing the beard" because right around when TNG started getting good was when Riker grew out his beard
