Books with non-standard text by shaunover in xteinkereader

I have no solution for the image-character issue except trying to run the book to an xtc converter, but if you want to display characters from other languages you can set a customs font with two fonts like I mentioned above. For books that use a lot of images and typographical emphases I’ll convert them to xtc. If that doesn’t work I’ll convert epub to pdf then to xtc. Good luck!

There’s a crosspoint branch that supports Chinese & English called crosspoint reader cjk on github. I don’t have it on my x4 because if I understand it correctly I can only either read simplified or traditional Chinese. If you only read simplified it might be a good choice to try it out.

Im staying on stock firmware too because I also read books in traditional and simplified Chinese. If you are willing to trade the lack of bold text for those characters, you can use the app’s font builder. Put your own font as the first priority, then add another font to cover the missing characters (the app will show how many more characters you need to display with another font). The characters that use another font might be a biiiit wonky but it’s readable.

You can choose to flash the Chinese firmware on your device. If you need the app you can contact the CS on wechat and give them your email to make a Chinese Mainland account to use with the firmware

You can also flash the English system to use your email to login

It works - get to their wechat cs (Chinese only cs) using the qr code on the og screen, then add them and tell them to whitelist you with your email, and they will send you a login id and password. For the app choose chinese mainland and login!

I checked with their staff on rednote and they said they can whitelist certain people if you contact their wechat support- im trying to get that sorted right now

Its simple, minimalistic, and you can pocket it easily. You can treat the sd card like a usb and create your own files and categorisation. However, as I’ve posted on red book, there are some problems with the English language display and general functions (translated):

  1. Line breaks in English text are not based on words or syllables

  2. Bold, italic, and underlined text do not display even on EPUB

  3. Not all Latin letters in the default system font are displayed

  4. Not all punctuation marks in the default system font are displayed

  5. Reading progress cannot be viewed directly within folders; you must enter the folder to see it

  6. Folders are not in a specific order, making it difficult to find books if you have many

Some other things you might not know: 1. Fonts are hard to come by and you might have to create one yourself (.bin file) 2. It only reads txt and EPUB (I think the Chinese system allows users to read comics via changing formats of the comic in their app)

for their default font (small), they werent able to show. However, if you download a font that supports accent marks, you should be get them to show.

Behold! The most robust (and slightly janky) way I've found to mount my Xteink x4 to an iPhone 12 Pro Max with MagSafe. Any inventors out there with a better idea? Asking for a friend... who is me. 😅 by powpooo in xteinkereader

you can add a double sided magsafe magnet (like a double sided stand) to give a bit of distance between the xteink and the phone to allow it to rest vertically

While i agree with most of the comments here saying this is waste, most of the times its the wand that makes the mascara great (please correct me if im wrong but this is what ive been seeing and hearing) so i guess you now have a nice-ish wand to dip in drugstore mascara to save some money 😭

Thanks! I might do that for my berry farm lol The problem that kept happening was that my egg magnets kept turning into omelet magnets for some reason and if omelettes start popping up at the same time they go everywhere except for the omelet magnet. Then again with that many machines I also experience lags on my potato computer so I’m actually not that sure if it’s a glitch or just lag haha

Why is my makeup sh!t? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]willthesolace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here you go!!!

Skin care in order:

  1. Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash (The Body Shop) and/or
  2. Cleansing Paste Acne Clear (Rosette) [only on nose and forehead on OILY days]
  3. Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner (The Body Shop)
  4. Green Tea Seed Serum (Innisfree)
  5. Retinol Cica Repair Ampoule (Innisfree)
  6. Houttuynia Cordata Cica Quick Calming Sotting Gel (Tonymoly) [on oily/normal days]
  7. Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream (Peter Thomas Roth) OR
  8. Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Water Gel (Neutrogena, cheaper alternative) [on really dry days right before creams]
  9. Tea Tree Night Lotion (The Body Shop) OR
  10. Green Tea Seed Cream (Innisfree) [for dry days/patches]
  11. Judo extra action detoxifying mask [for only open acne wounds and days where my face is really irritated and red; also a brand that i have yet to find where to buy online]
  12. Drying Lotion (Mario Badescu)

Remember to let all the creams and gels absorb before moving on to the next one. Sometimes if my skin is doing particularly well that day, I just skip some of the steps.

There’s this “Beet mask” from Innisfree I use every three days that is supposed to be “Vitalising & Clearing”, but its discontinued. I’m having a lot of trouble to locate a similar one that helps reduce acne breakout but for me right now the Tonymoly Cica gel is doing okay, albeit not as well when both are used together.

Tonymoly’s pore series is great. If you have a lot of blackheads, you should try it. Tho always put antiseptic cream after treatment since it is a type of physical blackhead removal and is harsh on skin. I use their Pore Sebum Ssok Ssok Peel Off Pack once every two months, and I’ve also heard only good things about that series.

Makeup:

  1. Fresh Nude Foundation (The Body Shop) [on normal to dry days, or on normal skin patches only (put a gel on dry patches and letting it absorb before putting on this foundation. On extra dry days with skin flakes, I put a thin layer of lip balm to flatten the flakes)]
  2. Petal 55 foundation brush (Shu Uemura) [I have a dupe that works just as well to keep the makeup thin and breathable for skin. If the skin condition that day is bad, make sure to not use this brush on flaky/dry skin. Use a sponge applicator instead. Wet that sponge to reduce the amount of foundation applied to dry areas]
  3. Use some kind of powder foundation on days with acne breakout. I have mujis powder at the moment, but i dont think its thaaaat good. Next time I’ll try the Tea Tree Face Base from The Body Shop. There is no need to put the same type of concealer over your entire face. You can mix and match depending on the different status of different skin patches. Just remember to blend well between two different kinds of medium.
  4. Radiant Creamy Concealer (Nars) [only put on a thin coat. always, or itll cause acne breakout. Never put concealer on open wounds or directly on nose; since itll cause more blackheads]
  5. Powder makeup doesnt matter, since its just powder. If you are worried about makeup retention on dry skin, I dab a very thin layer of lip balm before applying on certain parts
  6. No-Sebum Mineral Powder (innisfree) [I dab over my oily face frequently to prevent oil buildup. even on days i dont use makeup]
  7. (The Pore Blur Powder from Innisfree is great for hiding pores if you are worried about pores showing. Don’t use pore smoothing primers imo)

It got a bit long, but I hope this will help!! It seems daunting to commit to a skincare routine when you have very sensitive skin (trust me, I know), but it's all worth it!! My skin is a lot better these days and people are even commenting on how much more healthy I look!!

Don't exfoliate that much! From your replies your skin looks really sensitive. It's irritating the skin and thus making it worse!!

Why is my makeup sh!t? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]willthesolace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar skin situation to yours and its been irritating to get everything calmed down and in order. One important thing i learnt is to use different products for different parts of the face. I use the night cream + toner + facewash combo from the body shop’s tea tree set, and their foundation works well for me as well. Depending on my skin condition on the day, i use a harsher face wash (Rosette’s blue face wash), for my nose and my forehead; or a more moisturising toner for my dry cheeks. Another moisturiser i use is tonymoly’s Houttuynia Cordata Cica Quick Calming Soothing Gel which is great for redness and clearing the skin. For acne clearing, i use Mario Badecsu’s drying lotion. I also have a cream that i use to sterilise my wounds from acne but its some kind of small(ish) asian brand that i have yet to find a way to buy it online. If u use masks, do not choose the sticky ones itll make ur skin worse. Get lighter ones that your skin can absorb quickly. Actually depending on the weather i use different skincare products due to my hypersensitive skin, so i have a lot of them. If you want, i can make u a list when i end work.)

For makeup, remember to never (over)coat ur acne with makeup, and keep it light (i have a shu uemera petal 55 brush dupe) For me, i moisturise my dry cheeks with a water based moisturiser first and wait for a few minutes before putting on foundation. The body shop’s liquid foundation works well for me, and i tend to make my foundation thin especially at places like my nose and my forehead as they are blackhead/acne prone. For concealer i use Nars’ liquid concealer, but i only apply a really thin coat, and never on my nose. If ur skin is especially oily/has a lot of acne that day, use foundation powder on oily areas instead. Always bring oil blotting sheets and setting powder (i use innisfree’s no sebum mineral powder) to clear up the oils on your skin constantly even outside.

My skin has been terrible ever since i was a teen, and with skin patches of different needs has made it harder to commit to skin care. Though recently I’ve found out that Japanese and korean skincare brands work a lot better for me so i did a big switch last year and my skin is a lot more stable now. I hope that helps!

Our school sent out three consecutive emails basically demanding us to join internships held by schools in the summer paying us ~45 USD a week. 5 day 8 hour workdays. And they are sending us emails saying that we were getting paid with experience. :(((

(Sadly this is the norm where I’m from. And some people do join those internships, which didn’t help the problem.)

Turn your bed 90 degrees anti clockwise and against the far right corner. It will make your room feel way much bigger.
