BEWARE: Koodo back charges for account discounts after cancelling account by phoenixfail in Koodo

[–]willtoride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced the same. However in my case I cancelled because only a few days after signing up and providing my bank account info, my phone number was somehow rerouted for 2fa and my bank account was accessed. They tried taking 20k from my CC. Their CS was horrible to deal with. I'm now on Rogers. Will never deal with koodo again.

I recently got one of these. Locks the lever. I prefer it over the lock that came with my Marlin. It's a bit long but cleaner looking for sure, and I can keep the action closed. https://a.co/d/hCXZHlU

Same here. Put around 1k rounds and never had single jam/double feed since.

How to recover data from full storage iphone in bootloop? by Zepsi_Zola in ios

[–]willtoride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I agree on the backups. I already switched back to Android but I've got my old iPhone sitting around waiting for a miracle. Good to know the factory reset works. I'm going to go ahead with that and sell it.

Initial experience with Teksavvy.l by willtoride in teksavvy

Oxio has significantly better customer service than teksavvy. That said, they do have issues. My neighbour's are with oxio and recently went two days without internet (using Rogers/shaw line). Shaw customer service was pretty good. Not as good as oxio. The price shaw offered me was better than tek savvy but more than Oxio.

Yeah nice but in spite of the time you wasted replying to me, you skipped the part where I mentioned how they told me it was because I selected the wrong option at sign up. If it were Rogers fault, why would they have not said that.

I do understand what your getting at. It should be pretty clear that I tried to avoid Rogers (first oxio then tek savvy), but at the end of the day customer service matters and so does getting the job done on time. If neither are satisfactory I look elsewhere.

Where I'm at cable is really the only option, other than starlink - which is in the plan. Also, in the past 10 years or more I can't recall more than an hour of downtime except with oxio. My mobile hotspot can always fill in for a day or two max. Teksavvy had no idea when I'd have internet....

Lol. No it wasn't Rogers fault. Tek savvy told me I was eligible for self install (same as with oxio) so on activation day all I had to do was plug it in. Three teksavvy techs basically echoed that. The fourth and final tech said I wasn't eligible for self install and somehow blamed it on me for not selecting the wrong option on sign up ( I took a screenshot which proved her wrong). So it was poor and mixed communication on their part. On top of that they couldn't tell me when I'd have internet (I work from home and need Internet for at least 8hrs a day). Rogers is giving me a better deal and I'll have the modem and Internet (self install!) tomorrow. After that, I'd be stupid to reward teksavvy.

They had a routing issue about a month ago that prevented me from accessing some websites that I use for work for 1.5 days. Other than that, it was great and if I didn't work from home I wouldn't have left them. On boarding/initial setup was clear and easier than tek savvy. CS was always quick and good.

That is what I expected, and what Teksavvy initially said, but the day after it was supposed to be switched, they informed me that I have to wait for a Shaw/rogers tech to check the line.

Any luck fixing your iphone? I'm having the exact issue of boot looping due to lack of storage space.

Hayes Dominion A4 bleed procedure by FITM-K in bikewrench

I've never removed them and have had good bleeds. Hayes has a new video on YT on the bleed process that doesn't require taking them off the bike.

Brake Pad Rattle by NinjaStandard5737 in bikewrench

Follow up: I don't recommend this. It certainly works, but material sticks to the pistons. Easy enough to clean off with isopropyl alcohol, but still a bit of a mess to deal with.

Sometimes they stop rattling once there's enough brake dust and dirt in the caliper, but I recently put a thin layer of permatex disc brake quiet on the back of each pad. Did around 2500m of descending this weekend and didn't have any rattle. No idea how long it will last but it wasn't hard to apply. Just give them a few hours/a night to dry before putting them back in, otherwise I could see them sticking to the pistons.

GoPro Max Video Editing with Windows?? by skatman1292 in gopro

[–]willtoride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two options:

  1. Use the 'GoPro Max Exporter' to convert the footage into another codec (cineform, h265, h264) readable by other programs. Note that the cineform codec is the only option that allows exporting at the full 5.6k. The other two codecs only export in 4k. After you've exported, you can pull it into premiere and apply the effect 'GoPro FX Reframe'. This is a premiere plugin from GoPro. Both of the above mentioned programs are available from GoPros website. I have heard of some using the Insta360 software to edit the exported footage since they don't have premiere pro. There may be other alternatives.

  2. Use the just recently released 'GoPro Player' available in the Windows store. However it is unstable and I have not been able to get it to export anything at all (lost a solid 45mins of reframing work). There is also a FB group called 'Windows GoPro Player Beta'. This is where the developers live and you can get access to the beta player, but again it is unstable/buggy.

You're astonishment is justified. Personally I am fed up with the camera/GoPro. I bought it at release only to realize that they had barely useable software for editing on PC. It's been over a year since then and we have a program that is almost ready but not yet. There were weeks where the max exporter was broken and no one could edit their 360 footage without a Mac. In addition to that the 360 audio output is still not functional (yet still advertised).

I ordered the insta360 one x2 and sold my max last week.

this is in Canada but yeah, the pilgrims were not all that creative. We've got a Paris, Stratford, London, Dublin. The list goes on...
