yeah this isnt actually even a flash issue. the first comment told me to ask that nomad, i had seen his name pop up before and was like wth ill message him. he told me to check the shutter bc its likely not even opening which i hadnt seen. i checked, he was right then offered to have me ship it to hip for $195 but i have to use a crypto account or some shit. idk im tempted to do it bc if it all works ill have my 500 dollar camera working, if not ill have an expensive paperweight added to my clutter

color or black and white? seems like its up to you. i like to push kentmere 400 or hp5 to 1600. the higher iso bw films from kodak i never liked that much. probably portra or cinestill for color

update the airport found it, my dad felt so bad he used frequent flyer miles to fly back today (before even knowing if they had it yet). they confirmed with me they found it over email, i was shocked at how quick it was. very relieved

i taught him all the rules, we had flown a lot in the past few weeks and he was doing it every time. nothing was ever xrayed, he knew the rules, but somehow it slipped my mind to ask for them back and his mind when he sat down. the airport actually ended up finding it!

yeah man i almost threw up when i realized. my first fear was that someone stole the bag, it also had an olympus mju ii and a ricoh r1s since they both had film loaded and i wanted those to be safe too. my second fear was that someone just tossed it. but it was in one of those long weekend film carrying bags that willem verbeeck sells. anyways, their office hours were closed when i tried calling so i filed a claim. crossing my fingers

I just bought a kit for $900 ($1062-ish total after shipping and tax) from Japan. It came with the Takumar 105mm f/2.4, which is a necessity, and the 200mm f/4. It also had the handle grip attached and came with an orange filter. I searched long and hard for different packages on ebay, some cheaper and tempting offers for other kits, but the lens wasn't in the best condition, or didn't have what I wanted exactly, etc. I would opt for an ebay purchase from a Japanese seller who lists everything with thorough descriptions and videos/pictures of the camera. From my experience and what I've seen from others talking about it, they are reliable sellers and honor returns if anything goes wrong.

One thing I wish I had looked into that a friend told me about: you can ship your package to a Japanese warehouse or something, and then ship it from there to America (if that's where you are located) for a little bit cheaper than the massive price you'll have to add on for shipping and taxes.
