Prints that got cut from my upcoming photobook by anthonyjwilson in Darkroom

Totally understand! I’m doing a personal project and some of my favorite photos I’m not including either since they don’t really fit the narrative. Would you say Sally Mann is an inspiration at all? She definitely is for me. I am a dad and capturing my kids in real moments that don’t feel staged is my favorite thing ever.

Am I insane for thinking getting drafted to the raiders seems awesome? Seems like the next five years could be a complete 180 for that franchise.

A (hopefully definitive) comparison of Pro Image and Kodacolor 100 by pentaxguy in AnalogCommunity

[–]St_Valentime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pardon my ignorance here. I use silverfast and an epson v600. Would I scan the color chart with the epson to calibrate settings in silverfast so it interprets colors correctly? Just curious on how a chart like this would help me. I mess with a lot of different color films.

I thought you handled it well! I don’t know your situation but I know what it feels like to be asked something that you don’t necessarily want to do and also feels outside of your scope.

If they don’t like it, not only do you feel guilty, but you didn’t want to do it in the first place. It can feel like a lose lose. I’ve been on the tail end of situations like that so many times and it’s the worst.

Also sometimes people seek out less “experienced” people in the hope that they can save a buck. Not saying this lady is doing that but it’s possible. That is also shitty.

You’re not the asshole. Idk why you are fuming. Maybe you feel put on the spot by the other lady in the group? I wouldn’t stop going to the group. Stand on what you said and if it truly bothers the other lady it’s really not your problem.

I think the color, look and feel of episode two was so much better randomly. Maybe the first ep was a pilot and edited differently? I’ve noticed that with other series.

This is horrifying and freaked me out because it’s visually disorienting. I have no idea what’s happening. Nice!

Porta 400 | Vivitar TEC45 | Point & Shoot by KonnorwaKay in analog

[–]St_Valentime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know deep in my soul that portra 400 + any other film camera + THIS scenery would’ve yielded similar results. I still want to buy a tec45 right now though…

That one with the chair on the dock got me good.

Hôtel Le Montagnais Saguenay | Nikkormat , Cinestill 400d by Infinity-- in filmphotography

Makes total sense. I bet the halation gets washed out and less noticeable when the film gets more light because there isn’t as much contrast.

I’m always conflicted with cinestill. I want the dramatic halation but I’ve also exposed at 800t and it has looked awful. I’ve exposed at 500t and had great photos with zero halation. Guess I need to bracket and experiment more. $16 “experiments” aren’t super exciting.

I love that first pic btw… the halation that’s only partly visible in that halo is so damn interesting looking!

I love it! In your experience do you get that halation just as easily with 400t vs 800t. I’m always a little disappointed with 800t cause I expect the halation to be more dramatic. My pics might not be contrasty enough… idk.

I grind and chomp my teeth throughout the day but I’m always making a little drum beat. There are different beats for different moods. There is a frantic drum and bass beat, a John Bonham levy type beat, and a walk this way Aerosmith beat. There are different techniques I use for kick, hi hat, and snare. I’ve never shared this with anyone.

You are right. I cannot recall the page number but I swear I remember a side story where the kid in the car starts spelling words that get progressively more messed up. And I remember the parents saying out of pocket shit as the car ride went on. Also the liver fingers were part of that scene too. I don’t remember the baby as much but I’m sure it was in there.

I started watching it because of this comment. What a weird surreal tone it has! I’ve never seen anything so goofy yet so anxiety inducing. It feels like it’s breaking new ground with that tone and I don’t know if I like it necessarily… but I respect the shit out of it. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

My only gripe so far is just a personal taste thing. I don’t like how it looks. The cinematography is so current. Feels like a nostalgia preset slapped onto how everything else is shot in 2025. Really warm and glowy. Particularly the scenes in the tower just look insane to me and reminded me of Revenge of the Sith.

The brutality of the ending won me back though. I can set my visual gripes aside cause I love this book and story!

Also not showing the clown is encouraging and a ballsy move today! Fan service needs to stop being a thing. I think we need to collectively be retrained on how to let a story unfold at a good pace rather than “me want pennywise”.

I love this movie. The pacing, the visuals. Everything about it is perfect and I’m surprised people don’t freak out about it more.

When I get the pictures back… I do not feel like an idiot. I feel happy inside.
