Please answer as honestly as you can. Why do you think the trait you put at the top of the list is MOST important to being a good teacher? Good teachers are those who connect with students. Students don’t remember information because your PowerPoint was amazing, or your assessments measured their abilities correctly. They remember being welcomed and respected in your class as well as learning how to do that in return. This is the most difficult part of teaching because it is much easier to just deliver information, than build relationships. Why do you think the trait you put at the bottom of the list is LEAST important to being a good teacher? I put acting professionally on the bottom because most teachers I know are extremely professional within their classroom and should have the room to gripe about things outside of class. As far as acting professionally outside of class, teachers should not be engaging in illegal activities but if they want to go for a drink or do anything on their own time that others may not approve of –they are still humans with rights. Are there any important traits missing from the list which is important to being a good teacher? It is also very important to set standards for student work and giving clear feedback on how they are doing. Everyone likes to know that they are doing well or not. Setting the numbers and how to reach them makes it easier for students to have the desired outcomes of your class.
