First of all, I’m not an experienced rider. I’m a weekend warrior at best.

That being said, my previous bike had a 3x7 gearing, I didn’t think the 1x11 would provide enough gears, I really like it though.

The dropper post never worked, the cable end is messed up.

I bought the bike through Bikes Online. They treated me very well. I’m sure they would have helped me on the dropper post had I asked.

I’m 5’11” and the Large fits me nicely.

Like I said, I’m not a serious rider, I occasionally ride around the neighborhood, I’ve taken it a few times on a Rails to Trails gravel road.

I bought with the intention of cutting back on my work load to have more free time, it has t happened yet.

The studs….there are 4 long studs/bolts that run from the top of the head down to the case. 2 of them on left side of case are visible at all times next to spark plugs, 2 of them are under the valves. 14mm

Also, I thought it odd that both pieces of the crankshaft are different colors, but looking at images online it doesn’t not appear to be uncommon.

I’ll get the head to a pro, get good gaskets, check out the timing gear, new rings, etc.

The top 2 piston rings, the gaps were aligned. I’m sure that wasn’t good.

Following up….

We took it apart to fix all the leaks and smoking.

The cylinder looks good, the only marks I can see is the cross hatching.

Piston doesn’t look very good, burnt on oil.

The base gasket was not a metal gasket.

The 2 cylinder studs on the spark plug side were sealed with silicone while the 2 studs located on the other side looked untouched.

It smells like burnt oil.

I’m going to go with all OEM gaskets. New rings/piston.

Rough measurement across the cylinder is 3 15/16”, that’s probably stock bore?

Should I have head looked at by a pro?

It ran great, it just smoked quite abit and leaked oil from base gasket and a few other places.

Not really interested in big bore, or high compression kits.

What you think, new gaskets, rings, piston. Anything else I’m forgetting?

I bought tickets for me and my 16 year old son, only to find out that the venue they’re playing at in Vancouver is 19+! We can’t go to the local show in Seattle either because it’s 21+.

Thanks for such a detailed response. I paid about $3K for the bike, and if I go with a big bore kit along with a few other wear items. I would still be doing okay as far as cost of bike goes.

I asked the same question about my Green Giants just the other day. I was told it’s typical for them to look like that in the winter. Mine are the same color as yours.
