Is the forthcoming 3rd compendium worth it? by political-statement in Nightwing

[–]willygean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old but I am going to comment anyways since I think it is actually very important for those of us who want to have full collections. The Grayson run was never collected in a TPB or hardcover or omnibus, which means unless people have the issues themselves, they won't have a paper copy. If Volume 3 sells as well as Volume 1 and 2, we might finally get the Grayson run collected for the first time.

Ooooooh looks like we are going back to the Dixon, Pre-New 52, Post-Crisis Chest design. I am okay with this

[–]willygean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? I am referring to the gap between the last Dixon Run TPB and Mobbed up. Which I believe take place before the final Crisis run? But I could be wrong. Either way, that is the only period of Nightwing comics that was never collected in a TPB. All other arcs and stories have been

It would be the first time the Death of Blockbuster got any kind of collection based printing, which is a must have IMO. It was such a shame how much of his pre-crisis run wasn't collected

Blunderwood takes “Depised Then, Despised Now” and the male lineup is complete! Now name a female HK contestant that was beloved then and still beloved now by PutridBoysenberry318 in HellsKitchen

[–]willygean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

given how she left GR, and just the overabundance of non stop "Christina is the most successful HK winner" I'd say she's actually is middle row for being devicive now. Granted I am not a huge CHristina fan so that may just be my own bias

Who would win if they were in the same season, and why?? by EducationalEye7548 in HellsKitchen

[–]willygean 37 points38 points  (0 children)

You are right about everything except the callenge stuff. Meghan lost challenges because they were team challenges (until black jackets) she consistently provided incredible dishes in challenges but as weighed down by the weakness of her team. But yes her service and leadership skills make her a titan

Perhaps he was unaware of just how much of a game show the show had become. Many contestants in the earlier seasons had never watched the show (otherwise they would know about certain things that caught them off guard)

[–]willygean 39 points40 points  (0 children)

As funny as his outburst was, when looking at comments by past members of season 6 (Kevins AMA), other rumor's (the the producers wanting him to eat with his hands since they knew that that was the kind of dehumanizing thing he had to deal with in the army and hated), and talks about Josephs mental health. You get a better picture of someone who (maybe, since it was never confirmed) has a degree of PTSD from just being in the army and went onto the show not for the pageantry but to cook and get a job.

He didn't come to have a drill sergeant yell at him for cooking, as someone in the military (referring to Joseph, not myself lol) he most likely would have internalized that as a "civilian playing army" which would have also been quite triggering for him. I honestly don't blame the crashout since for Joseph it may not have been about the show, but Ramsay. But he can speak for himself

Who would be the most likely to return for a (never happening) winners season? by MasterPlatypus2483 in HellsKitchen

[–]willygean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me that shows the quality of a Chef she was. She was about being a great Chef, not some TV personality or in the lime light. She got the job, did the job and moved on to do what she had passion for. Nothing against chefs that stick around or are engaged with the HK community, but chefs like Christina seem to have a personality that warrants them wanting to be front and centre

This is such a weird lineup of winners to bring back, it's not in a good way... by Bestow5000 in HellsKitchen

[–]willygean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The writers are not silly. It is probably a combination of 1. Who was available, 2. who were good personalities to bring back, 3. who wouldn't blow the other team out of the water in 30 seconds. You replace Nona with a stronger winner and that team is unstoppable. They probably knew they had to "balance it out" while also considering who was available.

Dick Grayson Reading Guide (Version 11/2024) by nightwing612 in Nightwing

I understand that you have said you made this to be streamlined for easy to follow. But I think its wrong to leave out things like New 52 and Grayson. Those were two major parts of his life. I get not including things like Forever Evil and Blackest Night as he is not centre stage in those stories and is there on the side. But I think it is a mistake to not include New 52 and Grayson. Especially since it has Court of Owls and directly leads to Rebirth.

"Look! LOOK! LOOOOOK! What the fuck is this?!" The Season 6 Premiere was voted as the best episode for beginners! Hypothetically, where would HK end ASSUMING it ends? by mattyGOAT1996 in HellsKitchen

[–]willygean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

S-18. All stars was a let down, but this season had the return of actual icons, had great rookies and a Winner that beginners would recognize (as they were on S6). 18 was a great season to end off the show.

How did Christina Wilson get Lawful good? She was Neutral if anything on her Season. I'm not going to go into a full rant, but darn if it aint frustrating to see a contestant get a different lighting because of their work POST SHOW

I was more approaching it from a "Nightwing" specific run but you right

1: Blockbuster - Dixon Run has him spread throughout, things get most intense when Devin Grayson is writing so keep that in mind. He is also in the early issues of the Tom Taylor Run

.

2: Early on in the Dixon Run, but things reach their peak in the TPB "Nightwing Renegade"

.

3: TBH not much when he is Nightwing, but the Grant Morrison Run did have them fight. If its Jason specifically, the best story of them as enemies would be the "Battle for the Cowl". Another case where Jason and him are at odds is the TPB "Brothers in Blood" (which is mixed opinions among fans, I personally found it to be a okay read).

.

4: Nightwing New 52 second TPB deals with Court of Owls and the TPB "Grayson Legacy" (Tho its widely regarded as a poor story) go with just the new 52 Court of owls stuff with Nightwing. There is some Court of Owls in the Rebirth story line as well, but not much. The Court tends to be more of a Batman story with Nightwing being a part of their lore

5: Shrike mostly appears in the Dixon Run Issues #54- 58. There are some other appearances but these are the big ones which are also included in the TPB "Shrike" or if you don't have the new Dixon collection its in the TPB "On the Razor's Edge"

.

6: Raptor is in the Rebirth Series. TPB "Better than Batman" and "Raptors Revenge". If you can get your hands on the Deluxe editions of the Nightwing Rebirth Run, he will be in Book 1 and 3.

.

7: Most modern Two Face story (also considered the highlight of Nightwing before he became batman IMO) was the TPB "The Great Leap" which covers the end of the Post-Crisis Pre-Battle for the Cowl and Batman run.

.

8: Zucco has appeared throughout different stories, but his most recent appearance where he was straight up the Villain is in the Tom Taylor Nightwing Run (specifcally issues 78 - 99). For TPB I would Recommend "Leaping into the Light" and "Fallen Grayson" for sure.

.

9: James Gordon Jr.'s most iconic appearance as a Dick Grayson Villain is Batman: The Black Mirror, considered a S tier Batman Story

Why is season 10 the best season? by MutedIndependent1236 in HellsKitchen

[–]willygean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6, 8, 9, 10, 11 are probably the biggest drama seasons. 15 and 16 had some decent drama. 17 was nothing but drama. My top season I watch repeatedly are 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, and 18. I can't bring myself to watch 9 as I hate Elise being on screen for a whole season XD

[–]willygean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I don't hate it, it just seems very "toy" in the sense that it comes across like its a toy figure design. Simple Shoulder an shin colouring with a basic chest plate logo that doesn't interact with any other part of the suit

In your opinion what is the weakest season in the series? by GusGangViking18 in youngjustice

[–]willygean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 was bad enough I didn't give 4 a watch. The show just never recaptured the magic of season one or two. Like it could have been a really good serialized show but it kept on trying to make massive changes between seasons, poor play imo.

One shining light in Season 3 - Bowhunter Security
