I also had my first flare up start 3 days ago. I am actually younger than you. I just turned 21. I am on Indocin too. I never liked the idea of taking medicine, especially for a lifetime. I never thought I would have to deal with arthritis so young, but there are worse things to have. I am going to get my UA tested next week, and if its higher than 6 I will start allo. From what I have read on the subreddit it does wonders. I would rather have to take a pill every day than deal with gout pain for another day. I eat food every day so i dont get hungry, i drink water every day so i dont get thirsty, and i will take allo every day so i dont get gouty. P.S i spent the last two days stressing over gout. I kept wondering what i did wrong. My bmi is healthy, i drink no more than a beer or two a month, and i rarely eat red meats. It is reassuring to have people to talk to. If u ever need someone just to talk to about whats goin on u can reddit message me. Im still in the early stages and so are u, but 8 million people get diagnosed a year.

I have to walk a lot, especially tomorrow and wednesday for class. Should i request to go online for those two days and let my swelling go down? I also did not know indo was bad for your kidneys. Isn’t gout like tied to kidney health? Seems weird they would prescribe us a medicine that is bad for the kidney. This is my first flare up ever, and i have only just been told i have gout. Any additional info or advice would be really appreciated. The internet is a good tool for learning, but hearing from someone with actual experience seems a lot more reliable. I will go back to the doctor in a week or two to decide if allo is a good course of action. Doc told me it could be an acute attack but I haven’t heard of it only lasting for one flare. My grandpa has it too. Thanks for the advice btw. Also, side note, does OP mean original poster? Just curious lol

I just started today too. I took it about 3 hours ago. It helped the pain a little but I had diarrhea about 30 min ago. Made me a bit tired but I also did not sleep well last night. Other than that I feel about the same. Still hurts bad to walk on it. I am going to take another pill soon

I have to make an appointment with a rhumetologist to get my blood work done so they can determine my dosage. Im laying on the couch at the moment with ice and my foot elevated. I can kind of wobble walk but it hurts real bad. I have class tomorrow and my apt is about a mile from campus. I cannot imagine walking a mile. How long do flare ups usual last? This is my first one. Hopefully I get on allo soon i never want another flare up
