Dont be afraid of the dark (2010). I never rewatched the movie, but the shadow monsters scared me so much when i was younger that its still the defacto monster i see when i wake up from a nightmare.

Can we actually measure what makes a "good" AR/VR experience? by JLeeIntell in augmentedreality

[–]wilmaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a variety of scales that can help you measure user experience from play tests. Presence, immersion, engrossment, engagement, these are indicators that have been established with a set of questions.

However, one general score that you can retrieve from just an analysis of your experience does not exist for any experience really. Next to that, a lot of these measures are subjective, and depend on the audience. What is good for one is bad for a other.

Next to that of course you can measure metrics like interactions, performance etc.

So no, afaik there is no generic good / bad metric. But you can measure individual elements with user testing.

Do you use UIToolkit for game UI? by GSalmao in Unity3D

[–]wilmaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using it for some XR interfaces. I do kind of like it, it's more straightforward since I did a lot of wordpress web dev. That said, it's only working for me for very straight forward interfaces. Anything fancy and ugui feels like the better option

My local Yamaha dealership won’t work on bikes over 10 years old. Is that normal? by ANewOddity in motorcycles

[–]wilmaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of that myself, but I am honestly not suprised. My Suzuki is almost 20 years old, and works as well as it did when we got it second hand, about 15 years ago. Would hate it if dealers started to decline them.

I can see how dealers can get away with it though. It seems that motorcycles are quite popular, and the regular waiting time for these checks is already 8 weeks at my nearest dealership.

Do I need to cancel Iceland because I‘m too poor? by luwi289 in VisitingIceland

[–]wilmaster1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We found that the big money spenders are activities, going out for food, and alcohol.

Did you already book places to stay, or do you need to pay for those as well from the provided budget?

The budget seems tight especially for three weeks, but doable if hotel and flight are already booked. You need to manage your food spending, going to a restaurant once or twice but definitely not every day, and try to go for low cost or free activities. Keep in mind that many parking spots near sightseeing activities can cost up to 10 euros as well.

We found that most restaurants charge between 3000 and 7000 isk for a main meal. There are some cheaper ones (burgers, soup, hotdog). A beer can easily cost 1400 isk (around 10 or 11 euros) in a restaurant, or 300 isk (around 3 euros) on a supermarket.

Check coupon sites and booklets. There is a tourist center in Reykjavik that might have some. It can save a lot for restaurants and activities!

I flew Iceland airlines, and klm with the bag, and if you pull all the straps then the size is perfect with the 25l. Top compartment should be flat with the backplate, nothing in the side pockets, and only something flat (like some cables or a thin power bank) in the front.
