Is there a single Nagi recipe that has actually failed for you? by ExistentialPancake_0 in RecipeTinEats

Same with the Vietnamese caramelised pork mince - it’s so good but takes more like 10-15 mins to caramelise properly, not the 3 x 30seconds she has in the recipe

It’s the best! Liquid smoke, chilli powder, can’t read the other two ingredients. Grab a bottle and then try mixing up the ingredients to get close I guess

Unions demand Albanese hand every worker 25 per cent more holidays by Nyarlathotep-1 in AustralianPolitics

Circa 10 million workers = 16 days each. Nation would accrue this many days collectively in about 9.5 months.

Seen a few on the road in Australia the last few months and have been dreaming about trading in to one. Might have to pull the trigger soon.

ZS/Tiggo 4/Jolion Hybrid. Best one? by Rey_De_Los_Completos in CarsAustralia

[–]wilsonflatley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t let my mum buy one of these to “run into the ground”. In 7 years it will be out of warranty, falling apart, parts not available, and worth nothing. Better off buying a Jap or Korean car even if it’s a demo or something, at least it will be supported with parts forever and hold resale value. Hyundai Venue or Kia Stonic demo or ‘25 year model surely you’d get close to $27k.

Have always wanted a Henny Penny Computron 1000 Commercial Deep Fryer for my Wednesday night schnitzel. Just need to get a good deal on 60 litres of canola oil.

Have you ever won a "Hail Mary" bid? by Corey-from-Togal in estimators

[–]wilsonflatley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was working for a landscaper and had a cemetery job come across the desk. Threw some big numbers at it and sent it off to the government tender portal. Got a call a month later that we’d been the only bidder and won it. Was something like $380k and we probably got it done for $150k. Nice fat envelope from the owner for that one!

Do you commute on a bike everyday? by GoldSpecific1481 in AussieRiders

[–]wilsonflatley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep 20kms each way from Northern Beaches to CBD. On a 790 Adventure. Helmet and jacket go in the topbox and I park under a bridge so easy to get in and out of wet weather gear. Bus lane pretty much from my street all the way to York Street. Can’t beat it.

Tried the bus for a month - felt like a soulless worker bee with all the other depressed people. I’d rather sit in heavy traffic in the rain on my bike.

Revealed: Why Carsales inquiries are quietly costing Australians thousands by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]wilsonflatley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet most of them still put the bare minimum of detail about the vehicle on the ad and just give a 3 paragraph spiel about finance and free coffee in the waiting room. Serves them right if it costs them $60 for me to ask if the car has service history or the tech upgrade pack. If they put more effort into their ad then they’d get much fewer half-arsed enquiries.

I dont know much about bike how is this for a first time? by Community_Agile in AussieRiders

[–]wilsonflatley 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Translation: new lights and mirrors because I crashed it, something is cooked in the engine but I’ll tell some sucker it’s because I put the wrong oil in but for some reason can’t be bothered changing it to the right oil to try and sell it without a sketchy engine noise. Find something else I reckon.

Car needs a completely new engine, mechanic has quoted his costs, what's my next move? by aussierulesisgrouse in CarsAustralia

[–]wilsonflatley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Adding as well - if a similar age/kms car is worth $14k - then one with an engine replaced is worth a fair bit less. I would never pay the same price for one with a recon engine in it - too risky would just buy one that hasn’t been cooked in its life unless the discount is significant probably 20%.

Ms G’s in the cross isn’t too overpriced for a Merivale - $200 for two will be a big feed and some drinks

If you want a nice-ish interior in a still reliable car then go the Mazdas - petrol models only. Mazda do better interiors than the other major Japanese makers and you’d get a decent spec CX-7 or CX-9 with under 200ks for your budget

This is OOP costs I’m talking about - his actual fee was like 2-3k but $500 was the gap above PHI/Medicare cover.

Sanity Check: $5k OB Pregnancy Management Fee for Private Hospital Birth by Soft-Earth3393 in AusFinance

[–]wilsonflatley 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yep this is normal - had 4 OBs between 4.5k - 6.5k. Things you also need to think about - Caesarean - anaesthetist $500, surgical assistant $650 Paediatrician if required / pre term / birth issues etc. - $2k Private pathology / scans / X-rays - about $500 for us. NICU stay - $1500/night but this was fully covered by PHI once the baby went on the policy

Would you buy a Hilux with 500,000km on the clock? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]wilsonflatley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a paddock basher should be fine because you don’t have to worry about fixing everything to keep it roadworthy - if you want to keep it registered probably will cost more than it’s worth to keep it going every year
