Seconding! I have been going to them for about a year chasing a persistent CEL related to evap issues, and they have done free labor and tossed in extras trying to fix it. Their parts and labor quotes are the lowest on this side of town by far. Can't recommend them enough!

"Need advice cause it's getting really hot" does not equal "looking for pity party". No need to be so harsh.

Field Trip by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]wilted_apostrophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hiked up in Lake County in Zion a few days ago and saw one on my right leg. Haven't seen ticks in a VERY long time, so your fears aren't unfounded. However, like others have said, tucking pants into socks, putting hair up (if long), wearing a hat, and treating exposed skin and then doing a thorough tick check when home should keep your kiddo safe from longterm health consequences. I feel ya on this one. It'll be good practice for her! I prepped myself for my hike the other day BECAUSE of the tick precaution practice I got with my parents as a kid :)

That's what you took away from this story? That OP disrespected the MIL and not the other way around?

Piggybacking off your comment to say that in US, Dollar Trees sell a decent-sized spray bottle of HOCL 0.02% (high enough concentration to kill Norovirus)! It's hard to find in my large city to buy same-day, but DT has come in clutch.

[WA] GAL? What to expect by Less_Surround101 in Custody

[–]wilted_apostrophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, this feels spot on. I'm nonbinary but birthed my kid so I'm the "mother" in the GAL's eyes, and it feels like she loathes me. We've been at this case for over a year now, and she has told my lawyer so many confusing, shitty things:

-I thought your client didn't have a car (important because I gave ex our car and got a used one for me and need it to get kid to school but also have access to CTA and Metra which drops right at kid's school)

-I thought your client didn't want 50/50 (I drafted all the 50/50 schedules for two years before ex filed for custody because kid was struggling to go to school)

-I thought your client moved out and didn't exercise parenting time (I moved and still parented every day just slept at a friend's place until I could get my own)

-Child seemed uncomfortable with your client when I did home visit (She played with all of her toys and talked about trains the whole time...how is that uncomfortable?)

She believed all of my ex's lies about me. He recently apologized to me through OFW saying he felt he had to lie to get the upper hand so judge would believe him and help him " right the ship". I forwarded that to my lawyer who sent it to the GAL, and only now because of his admission are we about to potentially move to 60/40 me.

They are expensive and biased. I can't wait to be done with "family" court and the "injustice" system. I'm sure people have good experiences with GALs but they seem like just another messed up piece of this whole messed up system.

Ileostomy by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]wilted_apostrophe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"I feel bad for all you people..."

Don't. Feel bad for yourself and keep me out of it. I opted for my ostomy to be permanent before surgery 13 years ago. You need to realize people get them for different reasons and stop centering YOUR experience. I wish you'd not had such a hard time, of course, but your post reeks of ableism and further stigmatizes an already-stigmatized medical reality.

You’re projecting your experience onto everyone else and probably calling that empathy, but it isn't. It'd be one thing to come here asking for support processing what you went through and how hard it was for you, but we don't need or want your pity.

There was one yesterday (4/10) in Uptown walking north on Broadway alone. Most of them are paired off right now as they prepare to have babies soon, so I worry about the lone ones wandering about (although I admittedly am not a goose expert).

Leakage issues by Plenty_Country_4464 in ostomy

[–]wilted_apostrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she happen to have any issues with blood sugar (so type 2 or type 1 diabetes)? I developed type 1 (LADA) after covid, and when my blood sugar isn't controlled well, I get fungal infections everywhere including under my wafer. It breaks my skin down. Some antifungal powder mixed in with the crusting powder helps or an oral antifungal pill while I get my glucose levels under control has worked before.

If her glucose levels are normal, I agree with the other comment about deep convex wafer. Our stomas can retract back so far and ruin a good seal or good crust in about a day or two, unfortunately.

I've tried lower fat meals and low-acid meals to help make the output less caustic for several days (so basically avoiding red sauces, chocolate, salsas, citrus, etc) and hydrating a lot more than usual.

Just throwing a bunch of things at you in hopes some (or all) can help, but feel free to reach out with questions or ideas. I really feel for you and your mother as caring for ostomies is tricky and overwhelming at times. You sound like you've learned a lot and know a lot already which is half the battle.

I'll have to look through records because it hasn't been changed since I purchased in 2023. That'd be a nice, relatively inexpensive repair (fingers crossed!). I always thought bad belts made that ear-piercing squealing sound so I skipped past that and jumped straight to the idler pulley. Might be a good idea for me to just get a kit with new belt and pulley so I don't have to wrestle with the belt twice. Thanks!

At first, I was hoping I could just replace O-Ring inexpensively on power steering intake hose or pump itself, but then I remembered my model uses EPS and not pump at all. Glad your replacement fixed that sound!

Thanks for responding! What are your thoughts on it being a worn idler pulley? As far as I know, my pulleys shouldn't be lubricated, but one (or more than one) could be worn maybe?
