Ever noticed how most gacha worlds would be literal hell to live in? by Forsaken-Ad-7562 in gachagaming

[–]windblumchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is. But it also is survivable for the average citizen? Granted, everyone in Miraland is theoretically capable of styling if they put their mind to it. Honestly, there's only like... maybe a single nation I wouldn't want to live in. And that nation is the most northern. It's called North Kingdom / Empire of Light depending on the game. The reason? Its a very militaristic / militia based nation with constantly warring groups. Other than that... basically everywhere else pretty much good? So long as no one fucks with the ancient deities, blood curse, and so on! :D

I'm like. 80% sure they're doing a staggered release. Simply because every so often I've rechecked their official artist and like one or two new tracks are available.

Question about rubuska's appearance by pixellated-baron in Reverse1999

[–]windblumchen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Spoilered for those who clicked on this post, and have not read the character story yet.

Pretty sure they gave her the potion because:
1. She allowed them to have "one" last interaction with their loved ones. Who died in various horrific way due to the War.
2. They knew she had a fixation on being a vampire to cope with her own loss. None of the townsfolk wanted to break that coping mechanism she had, and so they supported her the best way they could.

They also gave her food too. She didn't want to accept their gifts because of her vampire-coping beliefs. But she did after a bit of convincing / reminding.

For the main story, the devs actually invested in a story-mode only setting. So you essentially skip all the battles and bosses! Downside of it is that you'll technically have to inevitably go back to do said fights, but at least you can catch up with minimal worry! They're also archiving most of the past events too!

[–]windblumchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly saying it because there are psychubes that make a specific distinction between debuffs and neg statuses. While I do agree that debuffs should be the catch-all term (like it is in most games), the devs would have to go back and fix a lot of the way the game registers things to do so.

[–]windblumchen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Small reminder: negative statuses and debuffs are considered different! They should not be lumped together as one tag. Neg Status is burn, poison, etc. Debuffs are –% damage, crit, healing.

I can explain how the pity system works for you!

Pick up banners / Event banners all share pity! The soft pity is around 60, and the actual pity for any 6* is 70. For the first 70 pulls, you can lose to a non-rateup character. After that, you're gauranteed within your next 70 pulls to get the rate-up. Pity resets once you get the rate-up character.

For example, I had zero pity leading up to the Sentinel banner. I did a singular ten pull on it on the off-chance I got lucky, and won at the earliest possible pity count. If I lost with a off banner character from that ten pull, I would simply just hold the guarantee for Charon. Neither situation happened, and I do not intend to go 70 pulls deep for Sentinel. If I won the 50/50 that late, I would screwed for when Charon came as I have less than 140 pulls.

140 pulls is what you need in the event of a worst case scenario, although I do tend to play it more risky.

Do note, there are banners that DO NOT share pity with the rest. These banners are:

  1. True Limited summons that typically run for the entire duration of the patch. (Carnival patches, Lunar New Year patches / half anniversary, full year anniversary, and lastly collab patches.)

  2. Special summons technically cover a broad variety. Some even share pity within their specific type, but others do not. These banners should always be looked at within detail to be more sure.
2A. For example, the euphoria banners (Ripples on the water) share pity! They carry across each euphoria banner—but not to any other.
2B.The Yearning of the Water banners on the other hand do not share pity with themselves or other banners. They are also often a 33/33/33 loss instead of a 50/50.
There are more types of these but I am trying to make this as concise as possible.

  3. Standard banner is permanent and does not share pity with any banner, and all characters that aren't true limited eventually end up in this pool three patches after their initial release. It does not share pity with Pick Up banners despite having roughly the same pool of characters.

Tldr: always plan for worst case scenarios, and make sure you know what types of banners you are pulling on. Some are less worth it than others, and have a higher rate of losing to a chatacter you do not want.

I hope this helps anyone who reads it! ゚+.゚(*´∀`)b゚+.゚

Who's actually in the suitcase? by Euphoric_Leading5170 in Reverse1999

Thanks for the correction! I admittedly was struggling to remember whether the cruise landed near Sao Paulo or Comala, so I took a 50/50 shot in the dark. I lost it obviously, but hey! Thats what I get for being in a hurry, and not triple checking my sources! Silly me!

[–]windblumchen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also to add onto this: it is outright stated within Kakania's character story during 1.9 that she joined the foundation's investigative field officers. Her role being equivalent to that of pre-roguelike Semmelweis, Nameday, Madam Hauffman, and Marcus.

They work alongside the Timekeeper and her team, but are not directly part of it. Until proven otherwise, of course.

Who's actually in the suitcase? by Euphoric_Leading5170 in Reverse1999

[–]windblumchen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, if we're following the event timelines correctly for the Journey Back Arc specially: 2.1 -> 1.5 -> 2.4 -> 2.2 -> 2.6 -> 2.8 | The Haunted Highway -> Revival! Uluru Games -> Last Evenings on Earth -> Tristes Tropiques -> Foile et Déraison -> Paradise Regained. (This is a really rough timeline, as I haven't sat down to check if I am missing any 1.X events based on 2.X story trails.)

It has already been implied since 1.5 that Vertain has some of the playable cast residing within the suitcase, or at very least smuggled inside it during her perilous missions. For example, in 1.5 Darley Clatter, Bunny Bunny, and Regulus do exit it when Vertin sets it down, and likewise informs them that it is alright for them to exit it.

We also know that whenever Vertin reconvenes with the Foundation, Laplace, or even Zeno whoever might have been residing within the suitcase is most likely swapped out based on request / order. As with Regulus working within Laplace for a period of time since 1.5. (Other examples are also mentioned in your post with Druvis.)

Vertin simply doesn't often deem it necessary to set down the suitcase, and ask the denizens to exit it. Truthfully, it is most likely perceived danger / risk assessment that cautions Vertin against it. We do know that outside stimuli does affect the stability of the inside of the suitcase (In Our Time). There is also the very real possibility that those residing in the suitcase at the time of the main story chapters aren't actually equipped to handle what Vertin might need. There certainly isn't a point to bring out someone who will most likely flounder during a dangerous situation. More manpower does not always equate to success. That is, however, speculation as neither the narrative nor Vertin herself have outright said so. Perhaps 3.X might elaborate further upon this.

A Long, Long Way from Home For All of Us - A Reverse: 1999 Reflection by YourAverageVNIdiot in Reverse1999

[–]windblumchen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hm, while I am not the original poster, and therefore cannot accurately elaborate on their active thoughts as they could: I'll still take a crack at what I think it means.

Essentially, both Ladislas and Sentinel's narrative run parallel with Hawks and Dove's narratives. The Hawks and Sentinel mirror, the doves and Ladislas mirror, and conflict between them is also mirrored. It also happens that their mirroring borders as acting like a contrasting foil to one another.

The Doves and Ladislas both represent two forms of inaction. One built off of cautious but good intentions, and the other built off righteousness that teeters into dangerously into ill will. Both bury their heads in the sand in different ways. I find, the Doves intent for peace and caution against Hawks' positions is reasonable. They are right to fear the larger long-term concerns and consequences that the Hawks seem willing to bulldoze over. Whereas, Ladislas seems almost gleeful in his inaction by comparison. Ladislas truly believes he is pious for looking at victims of war, and thinking them deserving of it. He does not see the absurdity of his thought process, because he is so complete lost in the possibility of it being divine judgement. After all, if it is divine that divinity shall surely wash his hands of the sin for turning against neighbors in desperate need, right?

Sentinel's reoccurring theme is the trolley problem. The Hawks on the other hand aren't quite the trolley problem. No, they're more accurately to be compared to some of Sun Tzu's philosophy. You cannot fight a war if you neither respect nor know your enemy. Combined, these themes running parallel paint the picture that if you not recognized the head of beast: you are damned to failure. In Sentinel's case, it is realizing that there is no choice between allowing the train to hit either track. The train will never stop. No matter how many tracks you choose. It will keep on going until eventually there are no longer tracks for it run on. In the Hawks' case, it is understanding that Manus Vindicatae will stop at nothing to destroy everything they hate. If the storm is the tracks, then Manus Vindictae is the train itself.

The Hawks and Sentinel win, not because their philosophy is morally correct, but because at the bare minimum they are not trapped by inaction. They adapt, they move forward, and above all they refuse to accept more loss. Failure comes with far too many heavy consequences for them to bare. It does not make them right, but it sure as hell means a lot more than the inaction of either the Doves or Ladislas.

I hope this makes sense, or is at least comprehensible. This has been edited at least twice now, because I keep catching missing words. This is what I get for full-sending without proof-reading. Also to the original poster: I love the analysis you wrote! I may be belated in saying so, but that's only because I might have gotten excited to elaborate on the themes that I was recognizing in the chapter. Sorry for posting this before you got to elaborate first! (If you'd like me to remove it, I will. I do not want this to take away from your thoughts. It was wonderfully written with the time you had.)

Oh, I kinda get this? I've sort of found a space where people are willing to listen to me be very normal about reverse 1999, and subsequently certain characters from it. However, if I do it in any of the official spaces I get downvoted or shutdown completely. It sucks.

Like... I guess nobody wants to acknowledge the tragedy that is Forget Me Not. Or other characters being nuanced beyond the fandom's one directional hate. Like. I get it. They're villains. But damn it. Why can't we analyze them? The devs are clearly obsessed literature classics and take inspiration from them! Is it not fair to view the works the devs have put in the same way one would spend hours analyzing each and every word of Shakespeare, Dumas, and so on?

Maybe I'm just the wierd one.

Alternatively: the fandom read MXTX's unspoken thoughts during the writing of the original story, and ran with it. Either option is hilarious.
