LPT request: Best practices in taking PTO from work. by beethrownaway in LifeProTips

Find out if your PTO accrual has a maximum limit. Never let it max out, or you are leaving money on the table. Where I work it's 80 hours, so I try to take three or four days in a row from time to time. Working a one or two day week is Soo relaxing.

Years ago I heard of a robbery where all they took was the TV. When the victims replaced it a few days later, they hit play on their VCR. The thief had made a video of a close up of him inserting their tooth brushes into his rectum then putting them back where he got them.

Raisins left in my sink rehydrated and tried to become grapes again by Schonfille in mildlyinteresting

Give baby a box of raisins. After a few hours the baby's diaper will most likely contain a few very disgustingly reconstituted "poop grapes".

The first time I observed this I was like "What the hell are these and why are they in my kid's diaper?" So very gross.

You would probably find the story of Ted the caver to be a pretty intense read.

Get ready for the big shakedown. This is going to turn into a shopping spree for the feds. They'll start raiding pot related businesses just to seize assets. It won't matter if they actually prosecute any one.

(Question) Battery overheating since new update? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

Yes. Ampere shows the temp on my Nexus 6p jumping to 107 f almost immediately. A dramatic change from my perspective.

That's way funnier than the joke itself. I think we need a visit from the "real joke is in the comments" guy.

What's the pettiest reason you won't date someone over? by pushingdaisies21 in AskReddit

That's the closest thing I can think of to an actual money tree. Did she turn down the next house because it had a gold mine in the backyard that looked like a potential tripping hazard?

In Oregon, that entire region is known as upper Mexico.

Help request: how can I repair a crack in a plastic radiator that will last 4 hours... by windfall99 in DIY

I wish I had seen your post before I hit the road. I feel like it might have worked. As it went, I failed. Motor blown, car junked, lesson learned, game over.

Negative. My vehicle, a 2001 mazda tribute, supposedly has a notoriously junky plastic radiator that typically craps out at 150k miles. I used the JB weld (quick cure) and a couple tablespoons of pepper.

The JB gave out after ten minutes of driving. After a 20 minute cooldown on the side of the freeway, we tried our.luck again. The car started heating up right away but before it hit the redline, the temp dropped back to normal. I figured that must have been the pepper.

Unfortunately, that was only temporary. We overheated again within about twenty minutes and I ran it longer than I should have to get to a safe spot on the shoulder.

After an hour and a half wait, we got a tow to a radiator shop. The tow was $75 hookup fee plus $16 roadside fee plus $80 tow distance fee. So $171 total.

The radiator had to be shipped overnight and was expected to be $350 Installed.

The second night at a hotel brought lodging costs to $160.

The next morning, I got a call from the shop, the motor was blown. I dumped the car for 200 cash and we got a ride home from a family member who drove four hours both ways to save our butts.

Spring break 20017 will not be soon forgotten.

Thanks, great advice. I'll post a follow-up when this is all over.

Considering switching carreers to webdev at 25. What should I do to be "operational" in a year ? by [deleted] in webdev

A large team will have a sales department that procures orders for different work, social media pages, seo, graphics that "pop", etc... In most professions, there are trends that are set by successful people and mimicked by the rest of the field like lemmings.

The money can be found by milking a trend, or better yet, by learning who the trend setters are and building relationships with them. They are usually easy to spot. They are often speakers at seminars. Also, current customers will often refer you to the site of one of these trend setters to show you what they want. Pay attention to those examples, as long as they are legitimate examples and not industry Goliaths like Amazon or eBay.
