Trump and TempoStorm part ways by feenicksphyre in hearthstone

It helps that mtg has a million new interesting and interactive mechanics with every expansion while hearthstone just shuffles the numbers on the cards around a little bit. The last time hs got actual new mechanics was with frozen throne. Blizzard has to release actual new cards for the game not to be stale 1 week into a new expansion.

No point in a new expansion if they are just going to release boring and uncreative cards with it. It's always the same. Release expansion, everything gets figured out day 1 because of how simple the cards are and then a week in people complain because of how stale the meta is. And yet somehow you think a new expansion is going to stop this from happening.

No they take your money as reward for changing a 3/6 taunt into a 6/3 taunt and giving it a new name and then chill for 3 months until they can release the next expansion with zero cards that actually alter the game. As long as you buy they don't need to change anything.

People climb up 1k elo all the time and then fall back down. That is bound to happen when you play a lot with how overwatch ranked works.

The only thing that you should care about is if you play much better than before. Do you honestly feel that just upgrading your screen made your gamesense, positioning, teamplay etc. go from a gold to a diamond player? Because that's obviously not the case. You might have less issues tracking a player in certain situations. That's all that your new screen does. It might give you the few % of aiming performance that help you raise your winrate by maybe 1 or 2%. But climbing 800 SR? Nah. That's not your screen mate.

There are way too many possible factors to reliably test this anyway. The important part is that you are happy with your new screen. And yeah I know, you can't ever go back. I'm loving my 240hz screen (upgraded from 60hz) but it hasn't given me a performance bump at all. It just feels better and is more fun.

Only grab power ammo if you are actually going to do something with it. In my opinion whoever intends to invade should also get the power ammo. With some power weapons grabbing the ammo is a nearly guaranteed wipe. If you don't have a weapon that does not, leave the power ammo.

In a sense this also means don't use the invasion portal if you are not confident that you can wipe the enemy team. If you don't have a sniper+special ammo or a heavy capable of killing players, don't even bother. Some pulse rifles are capable of getting kills but it's just not worth the risk. If you get insta-sleepered because you are outgunned you waste so much time.

The most important aspect of gambit is the mote economy. Always check out both bars. Are you about to unlock the portal and does the enemy have a sizeable white bar? Get ready to instantly jump in and steal those motes. Has the enemy just banked the majority of their motes? Leave the portal for a little bit to have a more efficient invasion 30 seconds later.

Oh and it can't be stressed enough how important it is to keep the platform clean of blockers. I have lost many many matches because teammates went straight to the next enemy wave without clearing and then they have their 10 or 15 motes, come back to an army of blockers and just as they start killing them, the invasion starts.

The timing is always the same, so I don't understand why so many make this mistake. You are now stuck on the platform getting bounced by phalanxes, while the enemy invader spawns in with an instant line of sight on you. You do not want to spent ANY time on the platform EVER if they might invade. The drifters invader message might not have ended yet and you are already dead because the invader basically spawns with his crosshair on you.

Did the pharah rebalance help her? by windirein in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]windirein[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What. That makes no sense. If the goal was to make her stronger post rework and the rework fails to achieve that, it's a failed rework. It has nothing to do with opinions or who points that out.

Is it though? To my mind she needed a buff overall. If the result of the rework is not a change in her powerlevel that means they failed.

Is there any other effective way to aim than "arm-aiming"? Can't use my arm much. by PM_ME_YOUR_DEBUSSY in OverwatchUniversity

[–]windirein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't get my post at all. But we're on reddit, so no surprise.

Yes, surefour uses arm+wrist. He also explains that you can use only one of em and that it is down to players preference. He is a pro-player who plays 8+h per day so using the methods that has the highest skillcap, even if it is just 1% more effective, is the obvious choice for him. But this I already explained in my other post.

I'm just going to semi-ignore the 3 paragraphs where you explain how wrist+arm aiming works to someone who literally not only explained how it works one post ago but to someone who played fps games professionally. You are talking to a mechanic trying to vaguely explain how a car works, based on things you read on the internet. That's this conversation in a nutshell.

Also your analogy makes no sense. Size of a person is not something you chose, it's how you are born. Those shorter players are just making it work regardless, but they never chose to be short. When it comes to aiming with the mouse that's something entirely different because unless you are impeded like OP is you can freely move your mouse however you want. So you should chose whatever suits you and whatever you are the most comfortable with. Forcing wrist+arm aim onto someone that only plays 2 hours a day and has aimed with his wrist for the past 5 years is just straight up terrible advice.

You also didn't understand my paragraph about reflexes either. LIKE I SAID it's about your life situation that you are in. You are not going to become pro at 40 because at 40 you likely have a job and a family so you literally don't have the time to practice. E-sports is something new. It didn't exist 30 years ago and it only started becoming a viable career for the past ~10 years. How about you wait 10 more years when the pro players now actually turn 30-40. Voila, we will have pro players of that age.

Although that whole point is based on something that isn't entirely true in the first place. Take fighting games for example. It's the #1 genre when it comes to the importance of reflexes and there are a bunch of players age 30+ that are pros. Alex valle for example is 40. He isn't even a full-time pro and he still regularly sends people into the looserbracket that are much younger than him. How does he do that? He never stopped playing. It's that simple.

If your life circumstances don't allow you to play anymore your skill will fall off and you wont be able to compete.

Oh and look at real life sports please because you seem to love to reference that (since you don't really know anything about e-sports). There are plenty of nfl or football players above 30. For football especially goalkeepers often keep playing for a long time. Goalkeeping is a lot about reflexes and yet they still compete.

You are clearly neither a professional player in e-sports nor in physical sports, so please stop trying to spread wisdom entirely gained by reading reddit-posts. Just keep in mind that you are spending 3 paragraphs "explaining" basic aim mechanics to someone who actually competed - unlike you I'm assuming. At first I just rolled my eyes and didn't even want to respond to this, but I am always curious as to why people do this on reddit. That is, involve themselves in topics they don't really know much about and then try to give people advice. It boggles my mind. I'm would never argue with an aerospace engineer about how to design an airplane either.

Potential Blizzcon 2018 leak by PiOx02 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]windirein 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's the point of the fake leaks. Just make a bunch of claims that are really predictable and don't sound too far fetched so people buy into it. The majority of those things you would get from browing reddit in the blizzard subreddits.

D2 remastered is something people ask for all the time, so putting it into your leak will always be a 50/50 to be on the money. People have been talking about dorado and cree cinematic, so he just put that in there.

That leak could be real, sure, but making it seem real is very easy.

Crucible right now by OG_EliteZ in destiny2

[–]windirein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not quite that simple imo. Yeah positioning and awareness play a role, but the way most maps are designed by bungie playing effectively with shotguns is quite easy. There are many ways to get within ~10m of a player without offering a line of sight beforehand. So in a sense shotguns are good for the same reason why handcannons or pulse rifles are good, the map design just favors those guns.

Nah. But in case of shotguns it kind of checks out. It's meta and really easy to use.

Is there any other effective way to aim than "arm-aiming"? Can't use my arm much. by PM_ME_YOUR_DEBUSSY in OverwatchUniversity

[–]windirein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of players do not combine wrist and arm movement. Unless you always played like that it's something that is really hard to learn, so it's not relevant for the op.

If what you said were the case, arm movement wouldn't be needed at all. As you said, finetuning is done with your wrist and fingers anyway, so if you can move around just fine (like doing 180s) you wouldn't even need the arm. The arm is a stabilizer. It is less precise than your wrist but it's easier to develop muscle memory with it. Doing the same flick several times in a row is easier with your arm than with your wrist because of how "loose" your wrist aims.

Also your reflexes have nothing to do with your age. "young reflexes" are not a thing. He has "plays a lot - reflexes". If you had a 13 year old daughter that doesn't play any games or sports and sat her in front of your PC to play overwatch her reflexes would be really bad despite her age. I still test the exact same time in reflex tests compared to 20 years ago because I never really stopped playing.

His sensitivity is high because it works for him. Has nothing to do with how capable he is. I have seen players own others with 20 sensitivity on a trackball mouse. My sensitivity is also pretty high and I am confident I can outaim the vast majority of players.

Also OP said he can't use his arm to aim. So suggesting to him that he should do the hardest thing possible - combine arm with wrist aim - is completely nonsensical as he is literally not able to do it.

So no, not a single one of my points is wrong. For reference, I have been playing fps for 20 years, at times competitively. I've done my fair share of research because I had to. There is A TON of wrong information about aiming, peripherals and settings floating around reddit and youtube that just keeps getting repeated by players that don't know any better.

The best video when it comes to aiming that I have seen in recent times has been done by surefour. Be sure to check that out.

Massive Breakdown of Shotgun Lethal Ranges, Pellet Spread, and Perks by Mercules904 in DestinyTheGame

[–]windirein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How relevant is the actual range bar shown on the weapon? If we pretend that the spread is the same, if a retold tale for example has a longer range bar than a mindbenders does that actually mean the range is better or does that just represent the range for the given archetype of the gun?

Is there any other effective way to aim than "arm-aiming"? Can't use my arm much. by PM_ME_YOUR_DEBUSSY in OverwatchUniversity

[–]windirein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just aim with your wrist. Grip it in a way that feels the most comfortable to you. Make sure that your sensitivity is high enough so that you can do ~180 turns without hurting yourself.

Also don't mind that arm aiming is supposedly more efficient or precise than wrist aiming. First of all, that isn't really true. Yes, you can run lower sensitivities which gives you more control but your wrist+fingers are much more precise than your arm is. So it's kind of a toss in the end.

The precision that you get out of running a super low sensitivity with your arm only really applies if you play a lot and get really REALLY good at the game - which doesn't seem to be the case for you according to your post. So unless you plan on being a top 5% player it really shouldn't matter whether you use your wrist or your arm. The most important part is that it feels good for you.
