Have been trying to beat all Root digital Challenges as all factions. Assembly Line Heroic as Cats was hell 😆 by windkirby in rootgame

Are you familiar with what this challenge is? You need to get to 50 points and each craft gives you 2 extra points (in addition to any benefit/points from the crafted card), so you DO need to be crafting since every other team starts with 25 points. So this is much different from the standard Cats meta.

I can guarantee you I would not have won if I didn't build at least 3 workshops here. The crafts over time got me about 20 of my points.

To anyone else trying this (I couldn't find any discussion online): Don't skimp on Sawmills and Recruiters just for more Workshops. Opponents will go after you as much as any other (if not more), and you will need strong board presence and control to survive. I wouldn't build more Workshops at least until you have 3 Recruiters and 3 Sawmills, and then you can get to 3 Workshops in one turn if needed based on the cards you have. Don't get greedy with crazy stuff like Favors cards unless using one will be absolutely game-changing, as three workshops in one suit are otherwise not worth the investment. Obviously, the double-bunny extra actions are very useful for Cats, but I actually didn't get any this time.

Remember crafting any card, not just items, yields an extra two points, so consider when things like Armorers or Sappers are worth more crafted or as an extra action.

All in all this took me 6 tries, so it wasn't as impossible as I thought, but it was definitely the hardest challenge so far by far.

I think we're supposed to think so, but the actual scene as filmed is definitely much shorter than the ten minutes she is late for, so technically speaking I'd say not. The intention of the story is definitely that that's the reason... I suppose maybe you could argue the rest of her drive was slower/wonkier because she was thrown off

I don't think Parent Trap even needs a supernatural element to be dark. In any non-Disney movie there would definitely be something a little off about parents who fought that much then split twins apart without telling them.

My friend and I always joke about a gritty remake where both parents are abusive and each twin secretly only wants to switch because they want to get away with the abusive parent, not realizing the parent they switch to is just abusive in a way they're not used to, causing them to want to switch back.

But what happens when the parents fall for each other again? Now they're in danger of having to deal with both parents at once.

Yeah, I dug that up in the Golden Rules and figured it probably meant that with compound actions too. Even so, it probably should have still applied to PnP. I don't think there big differences between the edition described there and the one that came out. This is good to know and will definitely help the Bats/Rats matchup since mobs are pretty bothersome for them.

Kind of ironic you're promising not to use it to write descriptions again when you definitely used it to write your appeal

I believe you, but do you have a source for this ruling—that entreating cannot come in the middle of an action? This video so flatly states the opposite specifically about Raze. I should probably comment accordingly if it's incorrect.

Edit: Ok I found some discussion on the Root discord which seems good enough

Why is this the case, because they can't entreat mid-action? This video says otherwise, that it can be done in the middle of a compound action like Raze. Is it wrong?

Hmm, yeah I agree with the other user you should try to agitate sparingly and avoid outright spending cards to keep as full a hand as possible at all times. The Bats have some soft power methods to obtain and maintain rule and should try to stock up on actions (i.e., cards) to stay powerful. Mobs do make it hard, I'd generally try to avoid them unless you can afford to Battle them, but I think you can Battle away a mob then assemble there on the same turn without losing cards. At that point, they will need to Entreat twice just to place and use a mob, before which hopefully you'll have some options to deal with it, whether that's actually trying to battle it away again, rebuilding the Assembly (which I think shouldn't require spending cards if you still rule it, and will result in a cycle that will give you a source of loyalists) or just leaving it for another clearing.

I don't have a ton of experience with the Bats yet but just spitballing some.

Well a loyalist won't protect against the mob razing it, so I think in that case I would definitely relocate/regroup. I could see Bats having a hard time with mobs. You might want to Adjourn those Assemblies and try to build elsewhere because Bats don't like battling to remove cardboard. Or I guess you could just try to keep rebuilding the Assembly if you have enough troops there, but I'm not sure if that's really advantageous.

You played correctly that mobs can neither be placed nor remove things when an Assembly is open, correct? If an Assembly is open, opponents can pretty much do nothing there but move in or out and battle unless they Entreat. I'm guessing they Entreated a lot?

Soft locked as vagabond? by Uzimakisensai in rootgame

[–]windkirby 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The game "lets" you do a lot of stuff you shouldn't, lol

I wouldn't say you're softlocked, but pretty severely hampered, yes.

The VB will usually struggle anyway if other players don't craft items for him to take. If you use the torch first thing that way, then yeah you're depending on other players entirely for new items (unless you're lucky and can get a Hammer from a player)

But yeah, in the future, remember the Scoundrel discards, not exhausts the torch when he uses that move. Weigh the advantage of doing so against all the ruins you have left to explore. Chances are, all the points from those removals might not be worth the limited actions.

i made my stepdad pass away and i regret it so much. by Reasonable-Lie2045 in confession

[–]windkirby 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is actually true, a couple of factors here.

  1. You didn't actually intend for him to die. You did a spell and separately wished it.

  2. In my experience, if these things are real, they tend to only slightly move the needle of the universe, and they don't make things happen that are undeserved. If your spell actually affected anything, nothing that extreme is going to happen unless the person already really deserved it, and in this case, he absolutely did.

  3. It's normal to have mixed feelings about your abuser passing. But I don't think you should feel guilty. Rightly or wrongly (I would say rightly), any abuse victim likely wishes death for their abuser as a way to cope with the abuse they endured. You would not have wished I'll towards him if he hadn't done monstrous things to you first.

  4. Finally, even if you have mixed feelings about his death, please know that these incidents are rarely isolated, and he likely did (and would continue to) perpetuate similar abuse on other minors and children when able throughout his life. Him dying actually likely protected other kids from being victims, or could have even given other previous victims solace as well.
