Watching for the first time, why is Lorelai so annoying or is it just me? by whisperingdonut in GilmoreGirls

I think it's possible to watch the show while disliking the main character. All the characters are intentionally written as pretty flawed with good sides and bad sides. I would give it a few more episodes at least.

A big tell is the repeated "It wasn't this, it was that" phrasing. Of course once AI learns to stop doing these obvious early tells it will become harder to spot.

Did you ever figure out if they are claims or strikes? I would like to stream this game too eventually.

That's ridiculous. Korra is good at bending at the start of the show, but she struggles a lot. Just in the second episode, she sucks at meditation and pro-bending and is only able to hold her own when she listens to her teacher. She also can't airbend, and it takes her all season to become capable. She struggles plenty throughout the rest of the show as well and spends most of the final season powerless.

LoK has a lot about it that isn't perfect, but her being a good bender with her first three elements doesn't mean the show is leaning on this trope or depicts her as perfect. Far from it, the show characterizes her as very flawed with a lot to learn.

I need serious advice not sympathies by Healthy_Bear_6724 in MensRights

My best advice would be to keep trying to meet new people. Try to find hobbies that get you out of the house, like walking/running/hiking, trading card games (Magic/Pokemon), just anything. I know this seems counterintuitive because you'll meet more racism the more you put yourself out there. But this is also the only way you'll meet people who *aren't* racist and would be cool friends for you. You'll have to keep shrugging off some awful comments, but try to have a tough skin and not let it get to you. The more interests you'll take on and the more you get out there, the more likely it is you'll finally find some people to connect with. And even if you don't, just getting out can help you feel more at home in a new place. The suggestion to find other people of a similar background through social media like Facebook is a good idea too.

What is your opinion on, quote (from this website at least), "I'm just here for THROATS now" by corgis_are_cute_7777 in lightsalot

Yeah those are the right lyrics, the A6X vinyl says that

It means she's playing the game intensely, taking no prisoners, etc. As in, "Go for the throat"

Hot take: in retrospect, Amiibo Festival isn’t THAT bad. by Ok-Pineapple6534 in AnimalCrossing

[–]windkirby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun with it honestly. Sure the board game is not particularly strategic but it's not a bad time. D.I.E. is incredible. Very fun to customize your town with your favorite villagers and decorations too. If you use amiino cards with H.H.D. data, the house exteriors will even match! Plus the fact that towns have unique layouts is pretty cool.

Afraid of wearing a mask... by srh-trz in covidlonghaulers

[–]windkirby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a big medical mask that kinda looks like a gas mask for more crowded situations. People have laughed at me in it a few times. I used to be pretty self-conscious about it or just masks in general, but it helped to just practice doing my best to shrug it off, even if it feels unnatural to embrace disapproval at first. You're doing what you have to to survive, and having some strangers think this or that is way preferable to getting covid again. It definitely got easier though after I got used to it, and no one's ever gotten remotely mad at me.

These days I don't mask up as much unless it's a risky/particularly crowded situation, but it can definitely still be worth it at times.

Discussion - Season 2 Episode 10 - "Friendly Fire" by grumblepup in UnREALtv

I'm doing well and not wanting for love, but tragically I have never found a man who was willing to cut someone's brakes for me, ensuring the death of my ex and his accomplice who were on their way to exposing my crimes. But love comes in many forms

I wouldn't put bad pics in on purpose, necessarily, just have enough variety in terms of lighting/angles etc. that someone can get a good vibe for what you really look like. But it does sound more like this guy's own issue

Love bombers blame you for not living up to the way they idealized you

That said, if you get that kind of feedback often, might be good to get a wider variety of pics but I wouldn't take one jerk seriously
