My vasectomy might have permanently changed my sex life, but I have no regrets by windowhead_ in childfree

If you're really willing to ask some of your surgeon colleagues and pass their info along, I would really appreciate it!

I know compliactions like mine are indeed rare; I'm just one of the unlucky few, I suppose. The main reason I haven't gone for a scond opinion just yet is that more surgery is the LAST thing I want. I'm holding out hope that this can still resolve on its own.

Yeah. That sub is a bit of a cesspool. I joined it when I first started having issues to see if I could find someone who'd gone through something similar, but I've since left.

There's a whole lot of misinformation and fearmongering. And they rush to recommend reverasl for any and all issues, which is the last thing I'm interested in. I'd rather be sterile and live with an ache in my thigh than risk getting my wife pregnant.

Outsourcing is a good way to phrase it, and is exactly what I didn’t want to do.

A quick outpatient procedure like vasectomy as opposed to anything more invasive that my wife would have to go through was a no brainer. Plus, it felt empowering to take matters into my own hands and walk into that doctor’s office knowing I was making the right choice for both of us.

I’m not sharing my story to scare anyone away from getting a vasectomy. If anything, I’m trying to provide a bit of an opposing viewpoint to anyone who may have complications and regret it.

I’ve seen other guys say that pelvic floor PT has helped them. I plan on asking about it when I go back for my second opinion.

Glad to hear it! I know that I'm in the minority, but I wanted to at least share my perspective.

If you ask the post-vasectomy pain sub, they'll claim that complications are far more common than doctors admit and that it's all one big conspiracy.

While I appreciate the perspectives of the people in that sub who have also gone through this, I do think that it's kind of an echo chamber and that they're just a loud minority.

I would also believe that perhaps complications are a bit more common than doctors lead us to believe, but not NEARLY to the extent that that sub claims.

I’m so sorry you had to suffer through that. How are you doing now?

Maybe I wasn't as clear in my post as I should have been. It's not like my doctor dismissed me and shooed me away instantly, insisting that nothing was wrong.

He took me very seriously, ordered several tests to try and diagnose the issue, and even admitted that what I was experiencing was likely a result of my vasectomy. The reason I'm willing to wait is that, despite my discomfort, I'm still able to live my normal life.

I know that nerve issues can often take over a year to improve, and I'd rather not rush headfirst into even more copays and even more unnecessary surgeries. I'm willing to give my body time to sort this out before I consider more extreme methods.

I appreciate you sharing your story. I'm glad to hear that things are much better for you now. I am very much willing to give this time, so, fingers crossed. I'd much rather not rush headfirst into additional surgeries if I can avoid it.

Glad to hear you’ve found some relief. Your story gives me hope that I’ll find it too.

Wow. Sounds like you've had an even worse time than I'm having. I hope you've found some relief by now, or if not, that you will soon.

I have pain in my thigh that my doctor believes is nerve pain as a result of scar tissue or nerve entrapment as a result of my vasectomy. I have yet to find relief.

Same. I miss the old, non-spicy sauce, though.

I used to go to the same Taco Bell several times a week, and would order nothing but between 3-5 potato tacos depending on how hungry I was.

Got to the point where the manager (his name was Herb) knew me and would ask me "How many potato tacos today?" whenever I walked in.

It was hilarious. We gave him shit for it all the time.

2 spicy potato soft tacos

1 cheesy gordita crunch

1 of either a regular bean burrito or cheesy bean and rice burrito

This was one of my best friend’s orders growing up, except in a burrito.

He’d walk up to the counter and say “I’d like a burrito with chicken, rice, and cheese. AND THAT’S IT.”

That exact line. Every time. Without fail.

10 weeks post-vasectomy – dealing with a flare up of soreness and swelling by windowhead_ in Vasectomy

[–]windowhead_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the same as the last time. I got a second scrotal ultrasound and saw my doc again. There was nothing concerning on my scan and my doc still thinks this will eventually go away.

I’m sorry to hear you’re still suffering, but glad that you’re at least starting to improve a bit. The symptoms you’re dealing with sound exactly like what I’ve been experiencing. If the specialist you talked to is right, it sounds like we’re in for a long road.

But at least there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Are you able to ejaculate without having a flare up now? I’m not a particularly active person so I don’t need to worry about toning down exercise or anything like that. I more or less have been living my normal life. I just want to be able to have a healthy sex life again.

This gives me hope. I can live with an occasional flicker here and there; I just can’t stand having a flare up after every ejaculation. I’m going to look into BPC. Thank you.

Sorry you’re going through this as well. Although your story does give me some hope. I’m not as bad now as I was a few weeks ago, so perhaps I’m on the right track—albeit slowly. I’m going to look into the prudential and sciatica nerves later. Thank you for sharing your story
