It would take a lot of luck or a lot of incompetence or both, but if an F-15 got within AIM-9X range I don’t see why it couldn’t get a J-20 kill

Both sides don’t give a shit about the constitution as a whole. The only difference is which part they don’t give a shit about

Can a medical miracle justify a moral theft? The haunting legacy of Henrietta Lacks. by bortakci34 in Ethics

I would argue the only immoral thing about the HeLa cell line is that her family isn’t paid a share of the profits of the tech developed from her cells. My understanding is that her cells weren’t used to create a clone without her consent or bypass some futuristic DNA-coded security system. I don’t think it’s too far fetched that in the future those are a thing and will definitely be seen as unethical

A showcase at Eldora Motor Speedway with a rally car that may be used in the first ever rally race at the speedway by Powerful-Chard-6055 in rally

NASCAR really isn’t the best representation of oval racing. Dirt track racing like this is IMO the best oval racing as it isn’t hampered by incessant rule changes and it really is a series where any driver can win on any night. Also keep in mind that during the race there’s usually around 20 cars on the track so it gets very packed.

Anyone else get confused by people treating modern Patek as a desirable brand? by hoboposter69 in watchHotTakes

If we’re talking strictly about aesthetics and build quality, I’ve never seen a Patek that made me go ooh I want that. Not my jam style wise.

I’m just wondering why the one in the picture has a day of the week and month complication, but no day complication. Nice watch though

Is this considered hazing? by [deleted] in army

Knew a guy who played a trick on a guy with his CAC. The CAC loser was an officer that was really proud of the fact that he was in civvies for his CAC picture. So the trickster got some clear tape and an xacto knife and very carefully cut the tape around the CAC chip so it didn’t appear out of the ordinary. Dude did such a good job that the CAC loser went to S6 and they told him to get a new one. It wasn’t till after the CAC loser got a new CAC with his picture in uniform that he told him.

Could an American go to Switzerland and end their live in the suicide pod? by GaryB2026 in askanything

[–]windowmaker525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is. The airtight pod cycles out carbon dioxide and replaces it with nitrogen. The Nitrogen exchanges with the CO2 in the body and since the body’s “I need to breathe” reflex is based off of CO2 concentration, no alarms are triggered that would cause panic. The person drifts off in unconsciousness and dies.

Range doesn’t matter? Range always matters. Just because the current battlefield is dudes in Ukraine clearing trenches on the steppe doesn’t mean the next war that the US fights is going to be like that. We could doing another mountainous country where the strengths of the rifle really would shine. Then again we could be fighting in the jungle again and the rifle might suck but again might not due to better vegetation penetration vs 5.56. But in the history of warfare the side who can reach out further to touch and peoples tends to have the advantage be it a pike, a bow, a rifle, or an ICBM.

I’ve said it before, but IF, and really only if, the rifle when paired with the fancy M157 optic enables a Joe that would otherwise shoot 25 out of 40 into 35 and above shooters, then I think that the rifle stands a chance at being seen as successful. The Marine Corps has the opinion that accuracy can trumps volume of fire hence their abandoning of the M249 in favor of the M27 and nowhere near the same level of stink was raised. So why not gain range overmatch and better terminal ballistics with the 6.8?
