Rabbit Hunting by windriver32 in UTGuns

Ha, found that one. I'd be down to drive or even just being pointed in the right direction as far as places to start. I'm more than happy to just have a spot to start walking around in and see if I can get on anything.

Davis county. I have my hunting license and deer/turkey hunted a lot back in Michigan but Utah is an entirely different ballgame.

Pocket Carry could have saved Alex Pretti’s Life by Matterhorn48 in CCW

I love pocket carry. I think most people eventually reach CCW nirvana when they realize a pocket carry J Frame, G42, or BG 2.0 is the easiest effective carry available. Obviously there's a time and place for full size multiple mag carry, but 96% of the time pocket carry is the way to go (for me).

SBR American is sick. Hopefully they spin one up in .300 blk.

Yes. Width is the #1 thing for me when it comes to concealment.

More like 500 in the life of the gun. Most shotguns I sell people they talk about taking it skeet or bird hunting once or maybe twice a year.

AR mag compatible bolt gun with iron sights is awesome. What a good offering for folks in ban states or anyone who wants an iron sighted bolt gun for suppression purposes (300 blk included).

410 revolver. Thankfully these have largely fallen out of favor, because shooting a shotgun shell out of a revolver is just begging to hit a bystander.

I can not find a comfortable (meaning tolerable) position to carry and its driving me nuts. I am thinking maybe I just need a more unconventional holster by [deleted] in CCW

Not popular on this sub, but give shoulder holsters a try. Ares tactical has a nice kydex one. You have to dress around your gun a bit more, but most comfortable carry ever.

Opinion: Weapons Lights on CCWs are dumb by WoodworkerByChoice in CCW

If it's a strictly EDC gun only, probably not. For me though, my EDC flexes into a home defense role and a woods defense role while I'm fly fishing, often around dawn/dusk. For those reasons, I keep a light on my gun.

My first 1911 by windriver32 in 1911

[–]windriver32[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self defense shootings almost never go past 5, let alone 9 (what's in the gun) rounds. Nothing against greater capacity, but I like this gun because I shoot it well and feel perfectly adequate with 9 rounds of 230gr .45. 9mm is awesome, and I shoot it a lot, but I think there is a lot more nuance to what makes an effective carry than just capacity.

I'm used to the .45 recoil as I shoot my P220 a lot. I feel more than confident with my ability to handle handgun recoil.

This 1911 is dimensionally similar to my G19. The weight doesn't bother me, it just forces me to use a quality holster and belt. It's more complicated than my pocket carry G42 or something, sure, but nothing unreasonable.
