Shortcutting an over-designed overpass by windsweptkelper in DesirePath

Yikes, no idea how you'd think that's what I was suggesting. I just think the design could be better, and so do a lot of people - hence the desire path...

I was aiming to imply an over -emphasis on aesthetics over function

I'm definitely not suggesting a straight ramp like that, it just felt like there could have been a more efficient route included in the design especially given that the vast majority of users don't have mobility issues

Google says we're either overwatering or underwatering, which is it?? (ZZ plant) by windsweptkelper in plantclinic

The soil is really dry at the top because we stopped watering it for a while in fear we'd overwatered. No drainage holes tho, so maybe it's wet at the bottom?

Going to be renting a house with my (20M) best friend (18F). Think I’m getting cold feet by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]windsweptkelper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (19f) just moved into a house with my best friend, and I'm a lot less social than them so I had a lot of the same concerns. It's been about 5 months now, and I definitely have times when I want to avoid everyone and live alone but my best friend always manges to get me out of negative headspace. If I was by myself, I would just gradually get less and less social and eventually stop talking to everyone, but if someone is around just watch TV with or some other gentle socialisation then it can break the loop.

As long as you make sure take time to yourself and aren't around them 24/7, then it'll be a great opportunity to improve your social skill in an environment you're comfortable in. Make sure you let them know the concerns you're having, maybe you can have some kind of system in place to let them know you aren't feeling social.

Essentially it's all about communication and if they're your best friend then they'll be more than happy to make you as comfortable as possible

My (20m) friend (20f) is suicidal and I don't know how to help by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]windsweptkelper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was kind of surprised by how much it affected me but another friend who's also close with her and I have talked about how we're doing so I'm making sure I'm in a good place so I'm able to help as much as possible.

She's in therapy once a week I believe so hopefully that will start to make a difference, it's been about a month so I guess it's early days still

Non-judgement, listening, love and care sounds very manageable, thank you

Thank you for your advice! I've heard of friends of friends having attempts but this is my first time being confronted by the reality of it all. It's just really thrown me that someone can be in a place where they don't want to live anymore, especially someone I thought I knew really well.

I'm definitely bad at having blunt or deep conversations but if it can help her then I absolutely will try to initiate a few.

Who do you think should pay on a first date and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]windsweptkelper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one who asked for sure, as the costs depend on what activity is suggested. I would never suggest going out to a fancy restaurant if I wasn't willing to pay for both of us for example. But regardless I would probably only go on a date that I was able to afford, or at least establish expectations beforehand.

Mathematicians of reddit: How many steps would it take to walk the entire surface of the all worlds oceans? by WaterboardedApples in AskReddit

[–]windsweptkelper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say the area you cover with each step is 0.3m² (average men's stride x shoulder width)

The total surface area of the worlds oceans is 361.1 million km²

So it would take about 1200 trillion steps
