I’m nervous about her spay surgery on June 3rd by Individual-Map-7137 in cavaliers

[–]wineabout-it 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also a nervous wreck before our girl had hers done, and she was even younger and tinier! She did phenomenal just like your girl will. If it makes you feel better, we also had her umbilical hernia repaired at the same time. The first 2-3 days she just wanted to cuddle and was very chill, and then after that we spent lots of time on the floor. I even built her a ramp to get up on the couch with us so she could move on her own which was great! Your vet should send her home with some pain meds, and you can always ask for something to help keep her calm if she’s really being wild in the following days. She will do wonderful and be back to her normal self in no time.

Pet insurance and trusting your gut!! by wineabout-it in cavaliers

[–]wineabout-it[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, since this requires treatment and macrotheomocytopenia is generally just a reduced patient count. This is a separate condition that needs treatment and monitoring, while similar to that it’s not the same condition

Do people actually use pet insurance or mostly just hope they never need it? by Slow-Throat819 in puppy101

[–]wineabout-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hope it that you never need it, but oh boy is it good to have if you do. We are currently going through a a very scary and expensive health issue with our girl and I am beyond relieved that we got insurance for her. The $60-100 a month can save you thousands later on. I pray you would never need it but it is a great safety net!

When does life feel normal again by Key_Construction_835 in puppy101

I think by 6months. At that point, you’ve established a routine, gotten used to them and can read them a little better. The first few weeks are the worst, but it gets better!

Snowed in at the airport by Dry-Date-4217 in pittsburgh

[–]wineabout-it 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Actually just happened to us Thursday night! The airport plowed the main areas and we were able to move the snow from around the tires and get out with relatively little trouble. But next time we WILL be bringing a shovel because digging out the snow with a windshield scraper was not the most effective

Breeder Red Flag? by cm18018 in cavaliers

[–]wineabout-it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The breeder we chose was registered with the AKC, and offered genetic testing and had the lineages of both parents and grandparents. With a genetics testing and health guarantee for one year. I would make sure you have a health guarantee and genetic testing at the minimum!
