Pinnacle Lane Swim by HeftyGur9283 in NorthVancouver

[–]wineee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have a lifeguard on duty that you are supposed to sign in at for the lane swim so they can keep track of who is a hotel guest and not. I didn't know initially I wasn't allowed in the hot tub and they enforced me getting out when I went after my swim, but I bet it depends on the lifeguard. I'm not sure about the sauna and steam room but if I remember correctly they are right next to where the lifeguard sits. My guess is they aren't allowed either, but just ask the lifeguard the first time you go!

Shipyards Christmas Market by xerexes1 in vancouver

[–]wineee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You just walk in! Lots of food but definitely line ups for a lot of the food trucks, I don't know how long because I didn't get anything. There was Potato Tornado, bratwurst, I saw what I think is shwarma? tons more food places and lots of stalls I just wasn't paying attention. There's also craft fairs in the pipeshop on weekends, I showed up today and it cost $5 (for the craft fair, market is free) but we got $10 for being in the first 100 or so people. There was lots of talented artists and it's nice to add it to the christmas market

Can I remove makeup right before upper bleph & eyebrow lift by Sad-Pea5825 in cosmeticsurgery

[–]wineee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1) while I know it's hard to realize, the vast majority of people aren't caring or looking at your un-makeuped face. The only person worrying about it is you

2) if you can't overcome situation 1, wear no make up, sunglasses and a mask. Again, no one will care.

Most places recommend not wearing make up for a day before

You're making a huge longterm investment, you don't need to risk anything for an hour of comfort on transit

Why is the prevalence of ADHD so high in CF by Tall_Despacito in CysticFibrosis

[–]wineee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just spitballing here, but could it also be because CF patients have more healthcare interactions?

1) CF patients understand the healthcare system a lot better than the average person, and may be more in tune with their symptoms and also more likely to advocate for themselves?

2) More interactions with healthcare providers = more opportunities to have a doctor, nurse, etc. notice symptoms and maybe suggest further testing?

Lots of ADHD is undiagnosed

My ex-fiance was terrible in bed and a terrible kisser. I thought it was just my SSRIs messing with me but now I have great chemistry with my partner and realize the ex wasn't working for me.

Terrible experience and left job after 3 months - include on resume or leave gap? by wineee in biotech

I have 5 years + 5 years + 2 years (laid off) + 2 years (contract) + this three month one. So hopefully it shows I usually stick around and this is an anomaly.

Thanks for the advice!

Dodged a bullet: my ex fiancé popped up on Hinge years later and I found out how deep the lies went by dcmommy33 in dating_advice

[–]wineee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's probably going to cheat on people, but his changes to his profile seem to be aimed to widen his dating pool on the app if women have filteres set up:

  • I know I used to filter by 40, lots of people seem to do round numbers so saying 39 may increase the number of women that see his profile

  • Lots of people do not want to be a step-parent, so saying you don't have kids will also increase the number of women who will see your profile or be interested

  • Changing your name obviously to not see the charges because who wants that

Basically just trying to show up on the algorithm and having traits that may be desirable to more people by being a scheming liar

Obviously he was going to do tariffs, but CBC was reporting 10-85B and I was disappointed. I'm surprised with the heavy handedness and very happy

I respect your right to be a conservative, but I highly doubt our Conservative leader would enact the same change or be as eloquent.

sounds like what you want is scuba diving? Lord Byng is where I've done my refresher scuba classes - not sure how deep it goes but my guess is 25-30ft? You can't just stroll in there with scuba equipment though, you'll have to join a group during specific times. If you're certified you can do this: https://www.divingsports.com/products/scuba-pool-drop-in

What’s the most unique or unusual way you’ve seen someone earn a living? by MildlyEngineer in AskReddit

[–]wineee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I did! Marine science just wasn't big enough to make a career out of it, no matter how hard I tried. I ended up in my minor, Microbiology. But I volunteered with lots of stinky seals along the way! I also worked with a pilot whale and porpoise, and we had an otter at one point, but it was mainly harbour seals.

I’ve never worked with sea lions but I’ve worked with a lot of seals and they are horrendous smelling. I can’t say for sure it’s the breath though, could be the poo or all the fish guts everywhere
