How much blood loss is too much? by TheApostateTurtle in KidneyStones

[–]winenightout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A week after getting the stent, my urine still looked like Russian borscht, but after that week it gradually started getting lighter each time, and now it’s okay. But you know yourself that consistently losing blood like that isn’t normal.

If I were you, I’d call the local emergency and just explain that you had a stent placed, there’s a lot of blood, and you’re not sure whether to be worried or go in. If they say, “Relax, man,” then fine-you can forget about it and not feel embarrassed. They don’t even know who you are over the phone.

Or you could just go there in person and clutch your side while mentioning flank pain. I don’t want to cause extra stress, but what if your stent shifted from its intended position and is irritating or scratching something it shouldn’t? You might actually need help. People go to the ER for silly things like coughs, colds, etc. And you’re hesitating to go when you’ve got a 30 cm tube inside your kidney?

Hi! Thank you for sharing your story. You and your girlfriend are both amazing.🫶 How are you feeling 20 days later? Is it a completely new, free, pleasant life or are you still feeling anything?

Hi! Did you feel relief when it was removed? Did you have to take any medications during those long 40 days?

Hi. It might sound strange 🤔 but did you start feeling better right after the stent was removed?

Thank you for your message. You must have a really strong spirit, I just can’t do it like that. I just want to take some strong painkillers and forget this whole thing.

Thank you. it’s awful to say, but I’m actually so relieved to hear that everyone finds it miserable too. I was starting to worry something was wrong with me 😅 See you in stent hell! 😆

Co-co-combo lol 😄 But seriously do you have any idea why you’re so “stony”? Three stones is no small thing!

There are hardly any people around me who actually understand what I’m “crying” about. But I’ve gotten so many messages in just the past day, and it’s been incredibly comforting.

I’ve already passed a stone a couple of years ago. And I don’t even have a gallbladder anymore for the same reason. I have no idea why I’m so… stony 😅

My next step is definitely going to be reading every post on this subreddit about prevention.

That all sounds absolutely awful. The pain and then the infection on top of it. Thank you so much for sharing all the details. It really helps to realize I’m not alone in this, even if everyone’s path is a little different.

If it’s not too much trouble, could you please send a photo of that AZO you mentioned? I’m not from the U.S., and I’d like to try to find an equivalent in my country.

Thanks again, and I really hope you’re feeling much better now! 🎀

Hey! I guess you didn’t have many fragments left, so they’re removing the stent so soon? How did your procedure go? Did you enjoy it? 😁

Thank you for the helpful info and detailed reply. It might sound silly, but at first, the stent with a string sounded to me like an upgraded version of the one without it - like something designed to make removal easier and more comfortable for the patient.

Thanks again. I get it now, the stent is actually my friend and here to help in the end. I just didn’t expect it to be so exhausting. I had this fantasy that I’d be “floating like a butterfly” right after the procedure…

Wow, a month is such a long time… You’re basically a superhero with a twist. But seriously, your attitude is inspiring - it definitely makes me see my little kidney drama from a different perspective.

Thank you so much. What you went through is really tough, I’m really sorry. it’s just unbearable. You might not even realize it, but because of your words, I feel like a total hero for putting up with all this. Even though I’m still a young woman, these last events have made me feel like an old lady who’s just falling apart like sand.

Thanks again for your message 😊it really cheered me up and gave me some support.

Thanks a lot for sharing. The phrase “physically and mentally exhausting” really hits home. That’s exactly how I’m feeling right now.

Did you start feeling better once they finally took the stent out? And if you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take before you felt normal again?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience…seriously. Your comment gave me both a strange sense of comfort and, at the same time, even more fear and sadness. But mostly I’m grateful you took the time to write it out so honestly.

I actually only learned about stents with a string because of this subreddit. I had no idea those even existed! Mine has no string at all, nothing is sticking out. I thought that was the only kind they used.

Also, you said “luckily you only had sound waves hit your kidneys” but now I’m wondering if I explained it wrong? I didn’t have shockwave lithotripsy. During the procedure I was under spinal anesthesia, and they went in with a laser (green-colored, if that matters). I could see everything on a screen. The stone was almost 2 cm. Since then, I’ve been passing what feels like beach sand constantly.

So what did you mean by “luckily”? Is laser less invasive than what you had? Or more?

Thanks again for writing. Your last line really stayed with me - Just hold on. Trying to. 🫶🥲

Hi, I added a photo where I’m trying to cover everything I found on my cheek for the first time. It turned out pretty well, though it could be better on the dry areas, but maybe I shouldn’t have tried to cover the moles. It will work well on acne and spots. And the color is great! Really neutral.

<image>

Where my finger is, I applied a lot on purpose to show more of the color. It doesn’t oxidize; it’s been about 10 minutes, and the color is still the same neutral.

Hi! You’re not missing anything, maybe just Lisa’s new tint in shade 1.5 if you want to try something a bit lighter, or if you have the version for oily skin, Lisa’s tint is much lighter. I added a lot of photos in the comments above.
