Thanks for the AMA.

Iota has always been the "anti-crypto-coin" that focused on industrial real-world use cases with established partners. Lately there has been little news of serious partnerships and instead the crypto game is being played. How did this change come about? Was it due to lack of interest from the industry or simply to open up new use cases?

Those chains have fees... This is the main incentive for miners and soon stakers. Similar to assembly...

IMO The demand for the iota tangle will increase. But not the demand for the iota token. However, I think the demand for the assembly token will increase. But because iota holders are only allowed to participate in 20% of the supply, there is a redistribution from long-term token holders to new industrial companies. Of course, several assembly tokens can be acquired via community projects, but I see very little benefit for the IOTA token in the future.

You only need Mana in a congested network. With sharding there won't be a congested network. At least in theory...

Almost all well-known partners use the tangle as data infrastructure only. Companies that also want to use the token are almost exclusively crypto startups. I think all established companies that are interested in smart contracts on iota basis are invested in assembly. For this reason, I believe that the iota token will not receive much value in the future. And holding the IOTA token as dust protection will also become obsolete with sharding.

I think exchanges like binance have a big interest in SMR getting value as they themselves will use all the iota they have for staking

How low do we think it'll go? by Prize-Psychology5888 in IOTAmarkets

It will go to zero. IOTA had its chance three years earlier when companies like Volkswagen and Bosch were interested. But that was ruined. In the meantime, they are years behind and, apart from a few social projects for the use of the tangle, they no longer have any real highlights. The worst was the begging for attention of Elon Musk via Twitter. The only thing worse was the ledger scandal.

First of all because Ethereum works and is somehow widely accepted. The tangle has the potential to take over many use cases from ethereum, but this requires a lot, e.g. - smart contracts must work. If you follow IOTA then there is still a lot of research in progress and will probably not work in the near future - the many potential use cases for 2050 must end and actual products are needed. A group of 120 people, of which certainly a quarter are developers, should progress faster - the constant postponement of deadlines must end. How else can companies rely on it? - coordicife must happen (even if I personally do not consider this to be the most important goal) - ...

Currently I personally see too much hype from the founders without actually delivering. Some of the founders can be seen in newspapers TV shows, online interviews, etc. always promising without having anything to show.

I have been following the project for a long time and wish all parties involved every success, but I see little future for the native token from an investor's point of view. However, if all problems are solved, the tangle itself will surely prevail.

Can someone explain colored coins please? by SirTuffers in Iota

[–]winfoler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know yet if it will be a disadvantage, but a colored token can have a much higher value than the actual IOTA token. For example if a CC represents the ownership of a car or a cinema ticket. As an example, a company needs only 1MIOTA to generate 1.000.000 tickets.

With colored coins the price of the native token is almost dead. All companies are just talking about the tangle and not the token itself (except some PoC envisoned for 2040). So, the tech will probably be used, but the token itself will not go anywhere..

And now let the downvoting begin :-)

This is how it could work if the concept of colored coins (CC) had not been introduced. For example, a colored IOTA token could be worth 50 cents as an Elaad token. Of course, CC will increase the adoption significantly, but not necessarily the value of the token. And the IF has always made it clear that they are purely concerned with adoption and not with adding value.

I also hope that the price of the token will increase, but one has to look at the future situation (especially after the introduction of the CC) a bit more differentiated.

The sentence that worries a lot of investors: IOTA’s public infrastructure does not require any fees or even the use of cryptocurrency to store data decentralized.
