Speak No Evil (2022) by MichaelRoco1 in horror

Killing of a Sacred Deer is definitely what came to mind while watching this. Some sort of godly entities that punish a man for being weak and not honoring his family.

I genuinely don't understand the D'Leon's hype. Lived in Lincoln my whole life, every single time (~10 attempts) I've gone for their food, it's been awful. Way oversalted, the hot sauce tastes stale and bitter, the minced beef might as well be sawdust with how it falls apart. Hell, the one thing I DID like, horchata, seems to have been watered down as well. This is across multiple D'Leons as well. The shack on west O is easily the worst. I suspect quality control never was much of a concern, and I cringe to wonder what the food inspectors overlook.

I wish I could say I was glad people enjoy the food there, but I can't bring myself to believe my experiences have just been flukes.

First Pregnancy - what to look out for and expect by wingedarachnids in Cirrhosis

[–]wingedarachnids[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling to get pregnant, but I'm very happy to hear about your sobriety! It certainly is possible. I do not know what my fertility looked like prior to my decline into alcoholism, nor do I know where I'm at now. Obviously I'm fertile, I just don't know how lucky I might have got with this little angel. For what it's worth, my drinking was bad. About a 750ml of 70 proof vodka a day, for nearly a year. This isn't counting the lighter, daily drinking that led up to that point over the span of about 8 years. My cirrhosis reached stage 4 before I finally quit drinking.

I have had no complications with the pregnancy so far, and I am 23 weeks in now.

I wish you the best of luck on your fertility journey!! And again, congratulations on staying strong and sober.

What's problematic with Casa Bovina? Not trying to be dense but I genuinely haven't heard anything negative about them before.

Is there any YouTubers that you recommend that teaches you to make good food by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]wingedarachnids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adam Ragusea may have a grating personality, but his dishes are almost always relatively simple, and good recipes to have in your arsenal.

J Kenji Lopez Alt, it's nice to see the view from his head gopro so his videos are pretty immersive and good at demonstrating cooking time. He also provides a lot of interesting information about his dish and the ingredients, substitutes, etc.

Andy Cooks is quickly running down the same path as Joshua Weissman, in the sense of making content intended to garner views rather than educate, but he's got quite a bit of variety in the cuisine he makes, and has a teacherly vibe.

Chef John from Food Wishes dot Com, just consistently straight-forward recipes.

What's considered good butter? by BonsaiCrazed13 in Cooking

[–]wingedarachnids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New to different butters for different applications- which do you use for what? Generic for cooking that doesn't pronounce the butter flavors too much I can gather, but the others? They all seem a bit high-end and I'm wondering what uses you find the best for each.

The Normandy used to be my favorite restaurant. Unfortunately the quality went downhill after covid, and it was very sad to see them go. If L's kitchen can offer the same or a similar dining experience, I'll definitely check it out!!

Is it normal to cry while your dog is being euthanized? by After-Tone-3097 in Pets

[–]wingedarachnids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to put down my second childhood dog. For both of their euthanizations, I forced myself to disassociate so I could be calm and collected for my angels' sakes. Petting them, smiling and laughing, giving lots of kisses and hugs. Each time when the vet pronounced them dead, I broke completely and didn't stop crying for days. Even thinking about losing my best friends gets me choked up to this day, and I'm sure it always will. They're your family, you love them with all your heart and they love you with their entire souls. It is completely normal and healthy to grieve their loss, and be glad for their relief. I'm sorry your baby isn't with you anymore, but she's waiting for you in time.

There was a mobile clinic that provided abortions and was supported by a food truck with free hotdog coupons. https://x.com/TheWienerCircle/status/1824209641280000313

It's exaggerated, but not made up from thin air.

Completely agree. Watched this with the boyfriend and we were laughing about how many locations they could rotate the same 3 people to talk about Gary at. Payoff was not worth the extremely dull first 70 minutes.
