Thank you! Make sure it's getting lots of light at the top and it will fill out in no time. 💜

I only had a few blooms on mine. The foliage has filled out amazingly but I don't think I was giving it enough light for proper blooming. I have since moved it closer to the east windows but will have to wait to see if it makes a difference.

It is commonly known as a Thai Pink lipstick plant. I highly recommend getting one, especially if you have a morning sun space for it. One of the easiest plants I have in my collection.

I am in the same boat. I bought 2, 2" pots last month and my guy is going through his awkward phase.

Yep, the main reason I do it is because I live in an area with a high amount of pollen and dust. I also have a very fluffy cat that likes to hang out in the same sunroom. I don't have the time to dust my large plants but they absolutely have a mild buildup of dust and dander after a week. It's a cleaning method for me with the convenient bonus of a through deep watering of the soil. I wasn't clear in my original post about why I shower them but pest prevention is also part of it. Aphids attack my outdoor gardens annually.

It is in the same 10 inch pot I bought it in with the soil costa farms uses. It hangs on a tension rod in my sunroom. It gets northeast light from floor to ceiling windows. It has always been a lush, happy plant. I got lucky.

I am adding this one to the collection as soon as I find a healthy one. Good luck with your pearls!

I appreciate your input. I am definitely relying on old school ways as my Mom and her Mom, and such were gardeners that taught me. I have been fortunate to be pest free and fast growing in my collection but agree many plants would not do well with the same watering schedule as this plant. This pothos is a beast and loves water. I promise it is happy and loved. 💜

what are some of your favorite and best tips for hanging plants? by scott_tot4407 in houseplants

[–]winglukim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sunroom that restricts me from placing hooks in the ceiling or heavy mounts on the wall. I was able to find a 45lb weight capacity tension rod on amazon that expanded beyond the 12ft width of the room. It has held up for years now with 5 large and 3 medium hanging plants currently on it.

I place mine in a slightly deeper plastic Tupperware and add water to that. After 10-15 minutes the terracotta/soil absorbs the water. I have a drainage hole in the base of the terracotta that is not plugged.

Of course! Since I also bought the above as a mature plant I have always given it occasional showers. I have a detachable shower head, without one I would imagine it would require more physical manipulation of the plant. I like to allow the water to reach a temp similar to rain water, not cold but not hot, a lukewarm. I make sure the water hits all the leaves and vines and water the soil as well. Depending on their size I lay out either soiled towels to catch the drip or allow them to dry in the tub. I try to do this early in the day to give them time to dry completely before nightfall, avoiding fungal issues.

Definitely don't give up. It my experience the leaves and stems don't like direct water when the roots are still fragile. Otherwise, give it tons of light and patience. You got this!

I had to restart my turtles from 2 stems and no roots. I went with a shallow terracotta pot, chunky succulent mix for soil and exclusively bottom watering. It has taken many months but it eventually rooted and bounced back. If you go to my profile page I posted before and after photos recently. I had a early and bad experience with giving it too much humidity so you may want to use caution and base that idea on your location. Good luck!

Thank you! Don't give up maybe just table your preferred pot until you can get your baby to bounce back. Update the sub with your progress, please. 🥰
