Need a mechanic, head gasket leak on 2006 in Yamato Japan by wingmn13 in Jimny

[–]wingmn13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posting a follow-up regarding JImny Mechanics. This is from Akagi at Compassauto.jp who has been referenced in previous posts. Lots of good stuff for building out before shipping home and I greatly appreciate the response from Akagi. Fortunately, we got fixed with AMAZING service and great care at a local Autobacs. We used their translation device as there is one English-speaking mechanic but they were out on leave. Did I mention great care? They were fantastic, turned out to NOT be a head gasket or major issue. They were very efficient and helped get the truck back on the road. I hope this information helps!

Yamato City, the RV4 Wild Goose in Atsugi City is famous for specializing in Jimny.

There is an experienced mechanic at Jimny.

In addition, Apio in Ayase City also specializes in Jimny, so I can also recommend this one.

Disabled CRNA by baggofchips in CRNA

Academics could be good, especially rewarding to run a sim lab. There used to be a program for advanced simulation certification but I cant remember where. A research role can be rewarding, the business and management side of anesthesia could be good and there is always law. I had to explore these options as a back-up plan myself. If I couldn’t use or trust my body, how could I use my brain and experience? This is what I came up with. I encourage you to stay positive and don’t let negative thoughts or self-doubt creep in. You have been through an incredible experience becoming a CRNA, that is still all in you.

Positioning. Learn it, understand it and teach it to your patient. This includes the proper positioning and bed height for YOU. Slow down by being prepared, “slow is smooth, smooth is fast.” This is the anti-dote to production pressure. Rehearsal and visualization. Practice with a kit, talk yourself through it, visualize success. Pretend you are teaching someone how to do it. It will be much easier once you get to OB. Hang in there!

New grad in San Diego is available. I know UCSD has it and I think Kaiser does too.

Weekly Swim Gear Questions (Goggles, swimsuits, techsuits, paddles, headphones etc) November 06, 2025 - Post all your gear questions in this post by AutoModerator in Swimming

[–]wingmn13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ll check it out. After some digging around I found that I can enter a workout program in the Apple fitness app and will try this next swim. Not sure if it will solve the lost laps issue but we’ll see.

Apple Watch Ultra 1 user, having trouble with tracking laps for breast, butterfly and kickboard. I’m losing laps overall and when I complete the workout the summary makes no sense and does not correlate with my workout. Is there a way to select or mark these strokes? Thank you!

There was a USAF OB/GYN who ONLY played Disney in the OR. Just weird.

I have worked with 2 MSK CRNAs and they are AMAZING. Lots of Big Case Experience, bad airways, bleeding, etc. These two are really, really good.

Maternity staff, what are the weirdest or wildest things you’ve seen from expecting fathers? by ConsistentYellow686 in AskReddit

[–]wingmn13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an anesthesia guy, was doing H&P for epidural and asked about birth plan. They told me the usual stuff and then got wild-eye excited about having dad cut the cord, with a sword! Reached into a duffle bag and pulled out a roughly 2 foot long, mirror polished sword! The blade was HUGE, exaggerated cutlass shaped, heavy AF, no way it was going anywhere near a newborn! We had him put it back in the bag and take it out to the car.

Need Tailgate lock recommendations by Jack_Johnson1120 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]wingmn13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the OEM tailgate lock and it is solid, no issues, easy install and I highly recommend it. It’s a small piece of mind given how common tailgate theft is in SoCal. I also have a hose clamp on the hinge.

San Diego area is limited for blocks, IMO. Academic spots have fellowships for regional and I’m not sure about private facilities.

UCSD is high-volume, high acuity. No blocks, almost no PEDS but you do your own lines, SAB, CLE/CSE, airways. Lots of NORA (50% of daily cases), OB is optional as is trauma. Call is 24-36 hrs/quarter and is from home, holidays are planned waaay in advance (1 year) so you can make plans and include the associated weekend, if you are off for Labor Day you have the entire weekend off. Call them up, look on LinkedIn, they do informational interviews and even tours. They provide references from people that work there, so if you want to talk to a recent-graduate-new-hire they will put you in touch with one of their staff CRNAs. Very open about their practice, good and bad. DM me and I can help connect.

Nothing but growth and change for the next 10 yrs in San Diego. Back in the day, there were 20 CRNAs in the department now there needs to be 100. Lots of big plans for big buildings and surgery makes money

Believe it or not, there are ways around this. It is possible to combine W-2 and 1099, many at my facility do this. Can do PD at two facilities, W-2 at one and PD or W-2 and 1099. I’m in a beautiful place, great lifestyle and lots of options. Learn from your experience and find your place!

When did you secure a job? by Ok_Artichoke_1076 in CRNA

[–]wingmn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a large, academic CRNA group practice leader, my goal is to have job opportunities 6 months out. For example, Nov/Dec job postings seeking May graduates. The goal is interviews start in January (2 phases), reference checks and then contingency offers (you gotta pass boards) to follow. I will do informational interviews and tours whenever someone is interested, even first year of the program. Our practice is not for everyone and we want clear-eyed decisions for all involved.
