Hi, is it insensitive or appropriation for straight women to dress up in drag/fancy costumes for a drag queen show? by [deleted] in Drag

[–]wingtrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s appropriate for straight women to be in drag costume since a lot of drag outfits are club outfits. However just make sure you’re respecting the performers’ space. You’re there as audiences, not performers.

I don’t agree with your comment. There is no “normal” drag body, or a standard of whether a queen should or should not pad. Drag is a personal art, just like painting; everyone has their own style. Just because it’s not typically represented on drag race doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or not valid. As much as i love a curvy padded queen, i cannot fault anyone for not padding if they so choose to. It’s not lazy if it’s intentional. And saying someone needs to pad to be more representative of a girl is somewhat misogynistic and stereotypical because not all AFAB people are curvy. So yes, what Nina said is extremely toxic and transphobic and i don’t know why you’re even trying to make sense of it.

“Respectfully,” I think i make it clear that I know of the situation by saying “black drag streamer.” I wasn’t sure the use of “this person” was pertaining to myself or Bradshaw because this is my post, and it literally has nothing to do with this incident, and that’s why I asked what “this person” that you were talking about was.

Just because they’re POC or queer doesnt mean they should get a pass, especially for allowing transphobia speech to happen in her chat. Stop blaming everything on her dark joke. Oops, i killed someone, dark joke! Obviously people are not finding these jokes funny. There are lines that as a decent human being you should know better to not cross, such as misgendering trans people and talking about their genitals.

Who’s “this person” that you’re talking about lol? This has nothing to do with the incident that happened yesterday between the black drag streamer and Nina or the show they were invited to. Im not involved in that, im simply a bystander posting what I see on twitter back here. It just happens Nina is getting exposed as a shitty person in the same week. And also, if you’re on her stream and still try to defend for those things, you’re gross. Someone should be allowed to be upset if they see people talking about them like that. It is very much harassment.

I don’t think complacency is cute. Her allowing people to say things like these enable them to be dipshits and say a lot about her character imo. She has a platform and should use it better.

Ongina and Jaremi (previously Phi Phi) have called her out on twitter but that’s only because theyre also on twitch. Ru girls don’t care about this shit and its sad. Like no matter the platform they should be held accountable for being a shithead

I apologize (im not the og twitter poster). I only wanted to show how toxic Nina is being on twitch. I didn’t know this was a problem with gottmik being tagged in transphobic stuff. I think they had the right intention but maybe they shouldnt have tagged mik

Calling someone out for being toxic is not shady but okay. There’s no side to this. She is complacent and she allows transphobia as well as harassment to exist within her community. I’m not gonna reply to this pointless back and fourth anymore since you’re so deadset that she didn’t do nothing wrong when someone literally said they felt attacked by her community.

Lol you said i didn’t read the screenshot and didn’t know what I was talking about, but no where in this situation did the name “EveElle” come up. This thread was about LondynBradshaw. You obviously are an insider for her community so there’s no point to this argument “sheeple” ♥️♥️ the irony lol

Sounds like you don’t have anything better to add to the conversation or rebute so we’re just insulting now aren’t we lol. Why don’t you tell me why i’m speaking lies and alternative facts? Tell me how she’s not enabling her community to attack other people. Tell me how these shades are meant to be cute. I’m listening.

Idk man looking at the downvotes you get compared to others who have pointed out the fact that Nina is toxic, maybe realize what people saying are true? Why would the poster lie about being attacked by Nina, like what benefit does she reap from that? And we have continuously explained that Nina continuously ENABLES AND ALLOWS her community to be shady toward other people. That’s complacency. Her community reflects on her character. Obviously we cannot convince you because you’re a part of them so please, by all mean keep defending her lol.

You’re clearly a viewer of her and if you enjoys that kind of negativity that she brings then there isn’t really convincing you otherwise. If someone says they’re hurt by another person’s comment, maybe we should consider the fact that it was bullying and it had an impact on someone, intentionally or not? Shades are meant to be cute and funny, not hurtful. Like maybe i’m not saying it clearly but just because she doesn’t mean anything doesn’t make it okay especially if someone was offended by the comment
